Still scratching my head......

My neighbor likes to come over with his metal detector & hunt around the yard with my 3 youngest following him around. Anyway, I went out to talk with him. While standing in the yard he glanced over at the barn & told me to look. On the peak of our barn roof was one of our black cats. Walking the peak of the roof!! I was coming to get the camera & before I could he lost his footing & went off the back of the barn. I had the kids go check on it & they said it got up & went under the barn.

I am trying to figure out:

A: how on earth did it get up there??? Our barn is probably 30-40 feet high with a metal roof. He would have had no traction for climbing the roof.

B: how did it survive that fall without getting killed??

If you check out my homepage:

http://www.geocities.com/weiskids/index.html

you can see the size of the barn in the 2 different pictures on my homepage. I for the life of me can not figure out how it got up there. I sure wish I could have gotten a picture.

Was a door to your barn open? Maybe he got up on that and jumped on the roof. Other than that I have NO idea!

Our cat used to get up on our shop roof (shingles) and jump off flying through the air and trying to catch the hummingbirds at the feeders. But now that we have a metal roof, cat flights have stopped.

If a thrill of the hunt is involved, cats can go where none dare tread. I think I could have sold tickets to our cat show.

We have a VERY tall two story house and our cats regularly prance about on top the metal roof... Cats can get anywhere...

And in many years, none have damaged theirselves by falling off with the exception of Charlie, about 20 years ago. I threw leftover biscuits out the back door and Charlie, who LOVED biscuits jumped off the roof and broke his neck. We put him in a box and waited for him to die. After three days of not being able to move at all, he got up and went about normal cat business, except that his head was permanent 'crooked'...

Go figure.

We used to have one that would climb the pole up into the rafters and shimmy out a gap in the eaves while snaking his body up onto the roof. Craziest thing to see, but he was pretty good at it. Didn't ever seem him fall off, but our metal roof at the time was the older galvanized style which had more traction than the new metal roofs. He'd sit up on the peak and watch like he owned it all
