Thumbs up Weep chunky p-butter for me!

Now, I realize that I am greatly blessed to have a company moving us. But....I have been so worried about how our upcoming move was going to go. What they would want to pack, how to arrange things so they could pack - whatever and however and whenever. We have a shop to pack and a house. Dh is gone, how can I be two places at one time, etc. Pretty much, if you can worry about it, I have.

All worries are totally unfounded. The 5 guys that arrived from Powell relocation have been absolutely the best. They are quick. I think they will be finished packing today - and start loading tomorrow. We can be in our new home by this weekend.

So....for all you other worry warts - and anxiety-driven people - please, weep some chunky peanutbutter for me and my silliness at needless (and unproductive worry.):banana02:

Pity and envy us military- yes we get our move paid for- but the movers are the lowest bidder! I always lock the wallets passports and handcarry don't you dare risk this being packed stuff in a car and carry all the keys to it on my person. THis time around if we move we've got 3 cats- the dogs are easy to keep out but I've heard about cats getting packed into shipping crates- really don't want to keep them in a cage for 3 days in a row!!!

We had a similar experience when the company move us to HU. The 3 weeks before the move DH was out of town. Our moved got pushed back so many time that my parents were also out of town...so I was "alone" trying to figure it all out. Again, our moving company was excellent and 2 of the guys became buddies with each my kids and let them help out, were extremely patient in answering questions, etc!

But that was in the US, now I'm getting worried because in 6 months we move back. Same moving company, but this time the Hungarian branch will be packing us...after 2 years we still DON'T speak Hungarian!! But I'm sure it will go just as smoothly as before...and heck the landlord will likely be here and he speaks good English and will be sure the movers don't pack any of his stuff (we're in a furnished house).

Off to sort through another shelf...what to keep and what to get rid of (how did we aqurie so much in 2 years??)

WEEP CHUNKY PEANUT BUTTER <> Never heard of anyone doing that before. Is it a saying you are familiar with, or did you just invent it? Sure would smear up the bifocals. LOL <> UNK

Last year when my son moved from SD to GA, he hired a moving company. They were great to deal with and showed up and took care of everything.

And then they disapeared. . . DS was already in GA and we took care of things on the SD end. The moving company showed up on Friday and said they would call DS with the actual weight so he could have the final payment ready when they showed up down there. The agreement was that they would deliver on or before a specific date, so they had over a week to get it down there. The truck was already partly loaded with someone else's belongings.

They never called on Friday and then the moving company was not open on the weekend, and when I call Monday morning, I got the message " Number is not accepting calls".

We were all freaking out a bit, and I ended up sending a Fax to the company to see if someone would respond.

I got a call back, turns out the woman was working out of her home and the guys had driven to the office in MO and then took off for a three day weekend before making the rest of the trip. They forgot to give her the paperwork so she could figure the exact charges. Then her kids messed with her cell phone and got it set to not accept calls (do not disturb) and she didn't know it was set that way.

It all worked out in the end, but that little mixup sure caused some anxiety for a few days!
