Talking We need a HAPPY news channel

I'm a self confessed news junkie. Been this way for decades. But geeeeeezzzzz I've found myself turning OFF the news lately. Or not even bothering to turn it on in the first place. First they'll take one news story and run it to death..every channel, every hour, every new news show...they all run the same item, with maybe a different reporter..but always the same actual news.

Then, when the "item of the week" has been overworked enough, they just report on any negative thing they can find. Man kills kids. Bees are dying. Dogs maul babysitter. Stock Market going down (and they'll sit there staring at the green board watching it minute by minute). Highways falling apart. Earthquake of 4.5 detected off the coast of California (well DUH). Woman kills spouse.

Used to be some happy news once in awhile. Now if it's not horrible nasty stuff, it's gossip about some star/lett. I've been thinking Cronkite and Murrow are cringing up in heaven...or wherever Newspaper men go....

Anyone out there know of a happy news channel?

There are a few such websites out there, at least I've heard rumor there is However, I totally agree with you. I'm really getting burned out on all the bad news too. Don't get me wrong, I understand these are trying times but for goodness sake, there's got to be GOOD things going on in the world too!

That California lady that gave birth to eight babies was good news, till they kinda knocked the edge off by insinuating that the rest of us will probably be supporting them. To tell the truth, maybe just pretty good news, would be more affordable.lol..............Eddie Buck

heh Remember that first news conference about the octuplets? All the happy faces, the doctors were so pleased the babies were healthy, the reporters were all smiling...I seem to recall even some laughter. Then.....it all went sour.

On the bright side, our local TV station FINALLY stopped running the banner across the top warning about Digital TV starting soon, and they stopped the 30sec commercials about it. So I guess that's a form of good news, eh?

I quit watching news on the TV about a year ago and you are absolutely right!

I always remember when I was a kdi, there always seemed to be some sort of "happy" news right at the end of the broadcast. Might be someone achieved something, something silly, "nice" wildlife news, but always somethigni nice to end off with.

I have said about this a few times, and jsut wish that someone high up would remember those news items and re-instate them.

But don't you know that people just love bad news? If it is good news, no one cares because it's not flashy or appealing like the bad stuff. I got so miserable with hearing the same garbage I finally turned to my radio and listen to NPR on the Wisconsin Public Radio. At least it's not the same stuff day in day out, nor is it prone to one location. At night say around 1am I get the low down from Austria, New Zealand, Australia and other countries. TV News gets to the point where I want to straggle the news caster LOL.

I totally agree!!!!
I got so tired of it at work (we have a plasma in our monitoring room) that I don't like watching anything but the weather anymore. I turned the sound off on the one at work so we wouldn't have to listen to it - if they have to have it on, at least I don't have to listen to all the junk spewed out of it all the time - and this is the one called Headline News.
I still haven't figured out why what goes on in Hollywood is actually supposed to be news - I could care less. I'm so burned out I don't even watch the award shows anymore.

The only "real" news is what the BBC reports, but that's on the Classical radio station.
