Anybody in Arizona?

I need some info if anyone has it. Within this past week, maybe even the last few days, a young lady was injured in an auto accident. She wasn't wearing a seat belt so was thrown out the window and the car rolled over her. She wasn't found immediately and by the time she was found she was suffering from hypothermia in addition to the accident injuries. Her first name is Amber, she's not yet 18 years old. If this sounds familliar to you could you please post a news link. Amber is Pop's step granddaughter. He's pretty stressed out since she is so far away and he knows he isn't getting all the info. What he does know is that she is on total life support and not expected to survive. All she wanted for Christmas was a plane ticket so she could visit him this summer.

Thanks for any info you can give us. Prayers are appreciated also.

Where in Arizona was the accident? I did a quick check of the Arizona Republic and didn't find anything, though they may not have identified Amber and just the accident. I can check a few more places if I know about where the accident happened.

My thoughts are with your family.

I don't know where it happened. Pop is real shook up and won't talk about it, doesn't want Mom to say anything either so she has to call when he isn't around. Pretty hard to do today. I'll let you know if I find out more.

Hypothermia? Sounds like it may be in the northern half of the state.

Call Arizona's Senator's offices - explain the situation:

Jon McCain - 202-224-2235

Jon Kyl - 202 224-4521

They should be able to help. Hospitals won't give much information these days - right of privacy, ya know.

Pop has been in contact with Amber's dad and step-mom, step-mom is his daughter. He just won't tell anyone else what all is going on, and I don't know if they even told him everything. All I know is that it sounds like Amber's dad will have to decide if he wants to keep her on life support or not. This morning Pop was preparing to fly out to them. Mom will call me if he he does go. I was just wondering if there was anything on the news or in the paper. I did check all the major news websites I could find for AZ but there was nothing anywhere.

Just spoke with Mom, Amber is awake and breathing on her own, better than the doctors had hoped. She has a crushed pelvis, partially deflated lung, and some other broken bones but there is a lot of hope that she will survive. More tests are being done to determine the extent of the damage but she is holding her own for now. She was trapped under the car for a couple hours before she was found. Location is Casa Mesa or something like that.

Hypothermia sounds like something that happens in my neck of the woods (where it's cold). I hadn't heard anything. There is Mesa , AZ (part of metropolitan Phoenix) and Casa Grande (about 1/2 south of Phoenix on I-10). AZ Republic would have been the paper to cover it for those areas. I think the other Mesa paper is the East Valley Tribune. Hope you get proper updates. I'll be praying for her and your family.

There's a Casa Mesa Nursing Center in Mesa AZ. No town called that in AZ.

Really hard when you can't get information to allay your fears. My best to all involved.

Mom did tell me the name of the town but I can't remember names unless I see them written down.

They got great news last night though, aside from a few chipped disks in her back, a broken collarbone, a partially collapsed lung, and every rib being broke, things are looking great! There is no spinal cord damage and she has every hope of being able to walk again once she heals. The car was on top of her for a couple hours. Someone heard her screaming for help and that is how she was found. Amber surely has a guardian angel watching over her.
