Vacation in MN!!

Just booked a cabin for a week in July. It's near the town of Spicer on Lake Calhoun. I'm sooo excited. My G'parents vacationed in MN every summer when I was little and I have never loved a vacation spot as much since.

We went to a small lake near the town of Miltona, N of Alexandria. Where we are going this summer is S of there & a little east.

OK-WIHH & Cabin Fever!! I'll expect y'all to come visit sometime b/w 7/12-7/19!!

Patty

It should be doable, just 150 miles (+/-) from our place. Just let us know closer to July...and you do know you're welcome to visit us as well.

Where in NE Texas are you? You wouldn't mind bringing along one of our grandbabies would you?

This one's pretty tiny & is near Green Lake. Spicer, MN borders Green Lake. Seems there's so many lakes in MN they had to use some names more than once.

You got me wondering:

Ten most common lake names in Mn:
Mud, Long, Rice, Bass, Round, Horseshoe, Twin, Island, Johnson, Spring

What? No Fish Lake? That was my bet.

When I was little the lake we went to was called 'horseshoe' lake & was near Miltona. I can't find it-perhaps we called it that? Not the locals? Plan to drive up that way & investigate since we'll be staying about 60 mi from there.

That's possible, Patty. My grandparents had a cabin on a little lake up by Hibbing and we called it Happy Lake. But after moving out on my own, I got into maps and found the lake.... I discovered that it was actually called Merrill Lake.

Trickygrama -can't wait for your visit! I do hope you'll consider a drive up to our place - the terrain and flora and fauna up here should be quite different from that in the Spicer area. Sounds like a great vacation and a trip down Memory Lane.
You & CF are so nice to invite us! I certainly hope we can meet you.
Aren't you closer to the Brainerd area? Seems I remember 'Crow' or 'Emily'?

We are located about 30 miles north of Brainerd, between the towns of Crosslake and Emily, MN....all of which are in Crow Wing County.

Patty..Leaving Texas for Minnesota to vacation on a lake is like taking a sandwich to a banquet. Don't you know Texas has more area in lakes than any other state in the union. I do wish we had more Walleye and pike waters to enjoy. Have a safe trip and a great get away...Glen

Oh, that may be so but TX has NO natural lakes. Well except for Caddo & it's really LA's. Plus the trees are AROUND the lakes in MN.
Thanks for the well wishes!

Patty
