doves??????/ or lack of?

I've noticed that are NOT many doves around here.Usually they sit 20-30 deep on wires waiting to go to roost in our big spruce and cedar trees.Anyone else in WC Ohio think there aren't very many around this winter? We did lose one of our big trees , but I doubt that's the problem -still have many.
