It came! IT CAME!

I'm so excited and you're my only friends that will really understand my excitement! My birthday is Saturday and I decided I needed a Kitchen Aid mixer for my present. It was ordered last Thursday and was supposed to take 7-10 business days for shipping. I was totally not expecting it until late this week or even early next, but to my total surprise it was waiting for me when I got home from work tonight. I didn't get home from work until 8 PM, but I managed to do the "dime test" and get a batch of peanut butter cookies made already!

Here's the link to the one I got: http://www.everythingkitchens.com/ki...and-mixer.html. I even found a 5% discount code on-line, so I only ended up spending $331.54! Of course I had to order my first attachment since I got such a good deal!

Sounds great! I feel like I already had Christmas, I had to order a bunch of canning supplies, and got lots of neat stuff delivered.

I love kitchen appliances!

Well, first off, I did not know it was your birthday, so, Happy Birthday!

And, I'm glad you got the present you wanted. Hope you'll get lots of use out of it and enjoy it for many years to come.

Were the cookies good? I was given a broken KA mixer the year before we got married. Hubby fixed it for me when I was out of town working, and he even bought me a couple of attachments for our first Christmas together. I don't use the mixer very often but your post has inspired me- I think I'll make hubby a batch of cookies tomorrow- he deserves them!

Red face

I have almost every attachment but the ravioli maker and the ice cream maker attachment. I LOVE my Kitchen Aid! I use it everyday. I love my grain mill attachment and my second favorite is the pasta attachments. I could go on and on about my Kitchenaid.....

The cookies were excellent. Nice way to spend an evening! I don't think it was really any faster making cookies that way, but I think it will be FABULOUS when I make some bread on Thursday. I can definitely see why people leave them on the countertop. That baby is HEAVY!

I have to redo a little part of my kitchen due to moving the dining room/kitchen doorway during our dining room remodel and I've decided to plan the whole thing around the mixer! I was going to have a whole 8' wall of 7' cabinets, but now I'm going to add a 4' section of countertop in the middle and use that as my "baking" center. Four foot doesn't really sound like a whole lot, but I have no other area in my kitchen with that long of a run of countertop so it's going to feel huge to me.

It will, definitely! That is what I mostly use mine for, making sourdough bread.

I recently gave mine away to a family that really needed one. I miss it already and I'm going to have to get another one. It's the second time I've done it too. I get rid of one because I convince myself that I don't use it enough and I'm sick of cleaning it and having sitting out taking up space. Sure enough a few weeks later I'm kicking myself. This is the last time. When I get another one I'm not getting rid of it.

Happy Birthday!!

I got a Pro in January. It stays on the counter and is used often. You'll love it for bread as long as you make several loaves at a time. I tried to make just one but the bowl is too large. I use 12-14 cups of flour now and make bread only twice a week now. Enjoy!

friend of mine owned a bakery and had a hobart industrial mixer, when he closed the bakery he sold it too a pizza place down the street. they sold last spring and the new owner did not want the mixer and set it out in a snow bank. along comes me and recognizes it from the bakery, asks owner how much and was told too get it outa their sight! stupid me lifts the beast into the back of the truck (thankfully the old, lower too the ground one!) hauls it home, cleans it up and baker boy drops by for a visit! recognizes the brute and bugs me till i "lend" it to him too bake bread for the farmers market! i am now on the hook too help him build an outdoor bread oven!:banana02: he is also getting stainless steel counters and tables from us, i see home made bread i my future every week! (he is an awsome baker!)

Happy Birthday,
What a fabulous gift you gave yourself. I dreamed of having one of those when all the kids were at home. I currently use an old Oster Kitchen Center with all the attachments. It does fine for the two of us but I still look at the Kitchen Aides and smile and dream.

I always wanted to buy a stand mixer but haven't felt able to justify it. I was very happy to buy one for my cousin for her wedding present last week- but in her red not my indigo or DH's chosen orange.

Happy Birthday! I hope you enjoy your gift for many years.

It's one of those things I never knew I wanted... until I made pasta with my SIL with her new KitchenAid. It's like a play dough machine for grownups!

Same one I've got... you're going to love it. the extra few dollars for the bigger machine is definately worth it in the long run.
