First time using the cookstove this season

Fired up the cookstove for the first time this season. Made a pot of chili and corn bread. Also cooked some concorord grapes for jelly.
What a cozy feeling.

Gosh, that sounds good. It's been pretty chilly here too, but if I want to start a fire in the cookstove it means cleaning off all my canning equipment, since in the summer the stove top is used as counter space
But you have motivated me, thanks!

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one that uses the stove top for extra space. I had to bail the stuff off of mine before starting it. Last night was the second night for frost and I think it's going to do it again.

I am jealous. I live in lower Alabama and, even though it is cooling off some, it is a long way to a fire. The daytime temps are still in the 80's but the nights are in the upper 50's and low 60's. Wish I lived where I could really enjoy a cookstove but all I have is a wood burning heater.

Keep talking... I live vicariously through all you ladies that have cook stoves. I would love to have one but there just is not any room.

We do have a wood furnace in our basement. It does keep us very warm and all the wood mess stays down there. I just miss the whole idea of seeing a fire burn (glass doors on a wood stove) or using a wood cook stove.

Just keep talking!
