Unpaid Dispute on eBay......question??

I haven't done eBay for awhile. I found this beautiful carousel horse themed wallpaper border online from some store, but they wanted like $40 a roll. And I needed three rolls for DD's bedroom.
Anyway, I went on eBay to see if I could find it, and BINGO, someone in NY had it for $13.99 a roll with them selling 56 rolls. So I hit the Buy It Now option for three rolls and it came to $52. I was quite pleased with the deal.

Anyhoo, the sale ended June 29th. I mailed a US postal money order off the next day the 30th of June. I got an email yesterday from eBay saying the seller has filed an unpaid item and wanted me to respond.

Is this something new, for a seller to act so quickly??? I mean, here it is the 7th of July, and we did have a holiday weekend, but I mailed the payment exactly a week ago. From Tennessee to New York with a holiday weekend in between I figured it was going to take a week to get there.

I would probably email back and tell them when mailed and the MO #.

I've never sold anything Buy It Now, but don't they usually require Paypal?

If you were required to pay immediately (via Paypal) and did not, a week seems more than reasonable.

I did do that, but it seems like the seller is jumping the gun a bit.

Nope, said nothing about that. Did say they accepted checks and money orders.
The seller does have a large amount of feedback, like over a 1100

Some of the sellers get very impatient. Reply to email and let them know payment was sent and remember your experience when you are asked to leave feedback

No, Richie. BuyItNow doesn't require immediate payment. Some sellers choose to do it that way, but most don't.

and I agree, it sounds like the seller is in a hurry. Very odd.

I usually send a nice reminder if I haven't heard anything from the buyer within three days. Then another nice reminder after a week-10 days that if they don't let me know what their payment plans are I'll be referring it to Unpaid... Then after a couple of weeks I'll start the Unpaid process.
I think I've had to do that exactly six times in about 5 years...

.
Was a money order an acceptable form of payment for the seller? I know I would refuse it, I only accept paypal.. Also many sellers use automated tools and most likley saw that you didnt pay via paypal so you must not have paid. Email the seller and ask whats up. Maybe they didnt get the payment.

Yes, they say they prefer paypal, but do accept money orders.I always check on this before I even bid on an item. Just to make sure, and sometimes if Im really interested, I email them first and ask if they take MO.

I got an email back from the seller, said he meant to sent it to someone else but got the wrong number?? whatever that means.....

He said he'll wait to see if payment comes tomorrow.

When you bought the item, did you email the seller and tell him you were paying via M.O. and when you would send the MO? I've had people just send off a check to me without telling me they'd sent it...a week later and I've not had ANY contact from the buyer....so I send out another "hello? have you forgotten you bid on <whatever>? Or perhaps you didn't receive the first invoice?".

Usually it's a case of "I sent a check on Friday...you should have gotten it"....then I get the check the next day or two.

I always appreciate when someone emails me right after they buy and tell me if the payment is going to be in MO, check, whatever....

He means that when he went to put the item number into the box for the dispute that he copied and pasted the wrong one.
