Smile Newbie

Hi all, newbie here. I have been reading awhile and decided to jump in. To tell y'all a little about myself - I've been happily married for 33 years to a great guy, we have 2 grown up DDs, a SIL, and an adorable little granddaughter who just turned 4 years old.

We've been homesteading for most of our married life. We have a few acres in a small town not too far out from Kansas City. DH is recently retired and while I have been a SAHM most of my life I consider myself to be retired now as well. We are living on a much tighter budget these days and I look forward to swapping ideas on saving money and being self reliant.

We currently have dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, and a parrot. I am an animal and nature lover. My two favorite things in life is gardening and doting on my granddaughter. Looking forward to getting to know you all better.

Wow, you sure are a night owl! Welcome, you will find lots of great money saving ideas around here and since you have been homesteading for many years I'm sure you will have a lot to share with those of us who are just getting started.

Thank you all for the nice welcome and yes, Ashtina98, I do tend to be a night owl sometimes, mostly because I can't sleep. Any good advice here for insomnia?

Hi Sagelady - welcome to the forum. You have a lot of very knowledgeable, good people here.

I'm another nocturnal person who's trying to be normal by getting to bed by at least 12, but more often it's much later.

Sagelady, welcome! My DH and I are recent retirees too. I know what you mean by living on a tight budget. DH is disability retired. If prices keep climbing, I might be looking for part-time work again. After working so many years, I really don't want to. There's so much to do at home. I never get everything done. Read everything you can here. You'll find lots of useful tips and information.
