Ticks! what can be done about them?

We have had quite a bit of ticks this year. if we put tick granules out around the dogs won't the dogs get sick from them? also there is a chicken that has been out and she might try to eat some.
What can be done about them?

We have three dogs, and we use the granules with no problem. Dunno about chickens.

I think we are in the same county.

I read some time ago about spraying yards and gardens with beauty shop diluted hydrogen peroxide for insect control.

I've already had 4 ticks on me this year when normally I get none. Think I"ll give the spray a try.

I would suggest as you live in the country and have chicken get yourself some guinnes they like to eat the ticks and will do a good job of getting rid of them and a large number of insects around your property.

Get a bag of Ortho Max for about $17. You won't have ticks, fleas or very many gnats for the rest of the season. That stuff is worth it's weight in gold!

I've always heard that guinea's will clean up the tick population, and I'd like to get some, but all these hawks, owls and foxes would clean up the guinea population. Got fifteen one time and before the week was out, I was down to ONE. Eddie

have you tried guinea fowl? 6 to 12 will clean your yard of ticks and grasshoppers and do a job scratching for fly maggets, you will get over the noise they make!
