Awww. Now this story is so sad. The cat never had a chance with it having been declawed. Just so sad.

Sounds like it charged him though, it was either the cat or himself.

Yeah, but was he charging or looking for help? If it was someone's pet that was dumped, he might have been looking for someone to help him. Pity the deputy didn't climb back into his car & call for a game warden.

That was my thinking. It sounded like a pet that someone either dumped or had gotten loose and with it being declawed it had no way to feed itself. When the article said the cat was standing up scratching at the door it seemed the cat was saying let me in, feed me. I wish it could have been caught instead of shot but what's done is done.

50 pounds, but sorry its not a leopard or a jag if thats the weight, unless a meer cub, and then thats just sad and pathetic that it was shot. Why it needs to have tissue samples to determine its species is also a mystery to me. If you cant LOOK at it and tell what species it is you are not a very good biologist. Sounds like a chausie cat to me.

In our area their are people that have pets and turn them loose and expect them to fined for theem selves. This has happend with Afircan lions tigers and some other large cats. Their is a family of African lions around here that have cubs a few years ago. So thier may be a breading pobulation of them around. We are two county south of the Misiouri border and they can have a range of 100 miles.

yes, but, leopards are 100 pounds, and jags are 200 pounds. Usually they OVERESTIMATE the weights grossly. So, if they say this cat is 50 pounds, is it really a housecat? I honestly hope it is a big black housecat. The only real possiblities are leopard cub, Junglecat or hybrid, or, big black housecat.

Plus they say he was well-fed, even fat - so his weight should have been less. Poor kitty.

And you just know that no one will come forward and say it's their's. They won't want the fine and bad press.
