I dislike topography

And you think I would be used to it, but it is always as depressing as the very first time..
There will be a huge wall of storms and rain.. stretching from the Gulf to the Great Lakes heading east.. I say every dang time.. oooh this one can't miss.. we are right in it's path.. we are going to get a good drenching...

and every single time it breaks apart over the mountains.. the storm front just parts and huge batches of rain got to the north and huge batches of rain sink to the south and we might get a drizzle or two.....

So very depressing.... you would think I would learn.

chickenista, I'm sorry you need moisture so badly. I can't offer you much more than sympathy and I do know exactly what you're talking about. We had bad drought conditions a few years back and I'd watch the rain clouds build up, head our way and then literally veer off and follow the river and deposit moisture someplace else. I hope you get some moisture soon. I'm sure it doesn't help when some of us are howling and complaining about our spring storms.

I live in a moisture black hole...
Last summer I could smell rain. I could feel the cool moist wind that brought the rain.
But no rain fell in my yard for alomost three months. DH would come home from work with water pouring off the truck.. it was a downpour less than 2 miles up the road.
So odd.
I am looking at the radar now and it is raining in my county... but just not here. Maybe later tonight....
I am constantly disgusted by my own foolish optimism.

We have the same problem, when it hits I-24 it will split on us unless it is a big front.

I feel the same way at times! I was saying to dh last night, 'if only we'd moved to n. iredell like we originally planned...' - he's desperately wanting rain to help set some fence posts he put in last weekend. We got a little bit, but nothing much.

Well.. this morning the ground was a little damp.. so it showered a bit. Maybe over the weekend we can get a bit more substantial rainfall.

Insane, hysterical laughter

So, really, you're cool with topography, just not with the actual mountains. I mean... topography on a paper is sort of cool... mountains scattering rain... not so much.

ford major, some got quite a bit of snow yesterday. We didn't have that much stick but one of the guys I work with told me he had a good 7" on the ground at his place. Calgary had rain, snow and hail all within a matter of hours. I figure this weather had best change soon or Alberta is never going to get past spring breakup and in Alberta, if you can't lay pipe, move rigs or golf, the world will come to an end and for a bunch of oilfield consultants, it could very well be the end because with all that time under their wives feet, they may suffer an early demise

chickenista, you need to go out and wash your car. Or leave a bunch of tiny seedlings outside while you take a "quick trip" into town. Or leave the laundry on the line for the day while you go to town. Or leave the kids home alone while you run into town for dinner at a restaurant they would have liked to dine at with you.

One summer we were stuck in a similar scenario, pouring rain every evening close enough that we could see the lightning. Not a drop at our house.
