You ever wonder about how many folks on HT...
may have passed on and we don't even know it?
People you haven't seen for a while, etc.
Anyone heard from Milkstoolcowboy, I see he hasn't posted since last year.

Jeez, you'd think with your good news (congrats, BTW!) you'd be in a cheerier frame of mind! Goodness. If I notice that someone hasn't been around in awhile, I just figure they're busy or they've moved on to another board or something...I never think "I'll bet they're dead."

Sometimes I do wonder. I always notice if someone isn't around for awhile. Ya know, if I died tomorrow nobody would know it. DH wouldn't come post it on here. He knows I come here, but he'd never think to do that. Only one person here knows my address so if I disappear he could write me a letter Wait... a few others might if they have a copy of my cancelled check?

Well, some folks are older. I figure most would fit your scenario, of course.
I am in a good frame of mind, but my mind is always very busy.

Well, between losing Kelly and Mitch, I can see why your head may go to the "Did they die?" place.
I usually figure folks either lose interest in homesteading, or they get tired of the board, or they get honked off at someone, or maybe they have a computer addiction and need to get offline.
And yeah, I guess some of them die.

Or, I might try locating your home once again, and stop in to ask Roger for an update~~~~~

I bettcha most of these people are still here....they just up and changed their login name for some unknown reason. Ya know it's hard enough to get to know people around here. And, just about the time you feel you are getting to know someone, they up and change their login name. What's up with that?
When I see the new name I always figure it's a newbie....not a long-time member who descided to change his or her name. The least someone can do when they change their login name is to keep their old avatar....like ZYG did...I mean Seedspreader did. It helps us old folk keep track of who we know and who we don't know.

Was that Kenuchelover? His wife came and posted about his passing. I liked his posts.

I suppose some do that too.
I've just seen so many new folks just in the past two months... (any stats on that Chuck or MD?) that I figure we must be growing again. I figure the economy has something to do with it also.

Actually, now that you mention it, I can't remember the last time I saw a post from MeanDean.
Do you think...?

I always wonder about Country Gent. I loved that guy and then he was was just gone in a poof. I have often wondered if he died. It is the not knowing that is the bad part.
Oh yoo hoo... Country Gent.....
If I were to pass.. DH would definitely post it... I have given instructions...

I have actually written down instructions for DH to remind him to post should something happen. How crazy is that??
But I'm only 37 so hopefully it will be 50 years from now.

Hmmm.... I work on-line and handle everything via company email. I'm not sure my dh even knows how to contact my employer in the event of an emergency other than through customer support. He probably wouldn't even think about posting on any of the forums I frequent, not even the one I'm site admin for.
Maybe I should make him a list.... l

DW is also a poster here so I'm fairly certain she would at least mention it in passing. Probably on the Poultry forum. Just to make sure I had all the bases covered prior to my recent surgery, I made a CD of all the program source code for all the programs I have written with instructions to send it to the users in the event of a cascade failure during surgery. Happy to report that I still have possession of the CD.

I tried to get in touch with him last year, Bob -- shortly after he disappeared. No response
I wonder about a lot of the "old crowd" quite often. It's sad that the nature of this medium is such that we'll never know a lot of the time when we lose someone.

I come & go, but I've instructed my son that when I die, he's to notify forums & e-lists. I've got a list for him with my passwords.
Of course, most people would just ask, Who's Bonnie?

Nah, we would pretend to know you and tell everyone how good you are. LOL.
And no, You're an OLD TIMER... maybe you should change your name and have your first post tell everyone that they aren't a real homesteader unless they live like you. Then you can gain INFAMY!

I've wondered the same thing. I was thinking about it the other day when someone was asking about Don Armstrong not posting since 2006.
