A different angle

I posted the "teenager repellant" post. Not to rattle anyone or tic you off and I was not aiming at anyone of you. Most people, and I say most not all, on this board , including myself live a way different world and life style to most outside your property line. Although , especially the ones who don't have a t.v., don't want t.v. or are not news readers really can't grasp the magnitude of the violent teens out there in our society. Just because you aren't having a problem with your kids, which by the way is wonderful, that doesn't mean this teen violence is not real. Very real. Teen violence by teens has escalated to a very serious level. Most of the Sheriff/Police dept across the country are having such a problem with it that they don't even respond to a call anymore when teenagers are involved. At our last rural community meeting we had the sheriff's dept, the county commissioner and a few others to attend and was informed that the teen situation is of such magnitude that they have resorted in giving the problem back to the parents. Quote," Teen crime are a parental issue for parents to deal with unless or until they commit an adult crime such as Murder", unquote.
If you catch a teen breaking in and call the sheriff, as soon as they find out it is a person under 18 they immediately put it in a different catagory . If they suspect it is a person under 18 before hand they don't even come out. Now maybe not all across the country, but most.
It is very easy to take things out of context when posting on a bulletin board. You don't know me from Adam and have no idea of my facial expressions (if I am laughing or not) or my intent and jumping to conclussions is very easily done, we all do it. I don't hate all kids. I am not unhappy, far from it. I have a perfect life and I intend to keep it that way and no teenager no matter what background they are from or how screwed up they are will change that. I won't allow it.
I am a parent. Our son is grown. I would not under any circumstances want to be young enough to have school age children in this time and age and I am so grateful that I only see alot of this violence on the news.
My community is although experiencing more and more teen crime and violence than I thought I would ever see in my life on the outside of the city and frankly it is getting scarry.
I still think that this high frequency device is a great invention and I am going to check into it more. I own a business and I refuse to be a victim. If in fact this device does work I will buy one to keep the teens out of our tool shop, our equiptment barn and anywhere else I might need it. Most teens, not all, target easy prey such as barns, sheds, cars although they are getting pretty darn brazzen of late.
I don't want to shoot a teenager trying to rob me or break in to my house, my barn, shed, but I refuse to be a victum and if this device works I won't have to shoot them.
More and more of the home invasions (when you are home) are being committed by teens for the thrill of it. For those of you who are not familiar with what "Home Invasion" is; It is when the crimminal waits til you are home , knows you are home , to break in for the thrill of confronting you in his efforts to terrorize you. They want you home. The thought of being robbed is bad enough but the thought of them waiting til they know you are there to get a thrill out of it is terrifying. Most home invasions end very badly because they go in with full intent of killing their victim. Their comment is quote "They wanted to know what it feels like to kill a person" unquote.
Now, some of the advice about talking to these teens , reaching out to them is all well in good on paper or verbally but so unrealistic. We are not talking about your kids going through a stage in their life. We are talking about kids who at 10 years old have already murdered someone. They don't go to school at all and their is no recourse against them. The Sheriff's dept is even afraid of them. When we hear gun shots now a days be assured they are not hunters or just target practicing. I use to walk a couple of miles every night till the semi automatics starting going off as the city got closer and closer. Went to Sears and bought a Tredmill instead. I don't even walk down what use to be our country road anymore. Has my life changed because of this, yes, do I like being overly cautious, no. but it is getting seriously bad. In the last year we have 6 horses in the area shot and killed by kids. " They wanted to see what it was like to shoot something". I have horses. Am I petrified, you bet. Pigs in a pen have been stabbed and mutilated , all by teenagers of 14.
So to wrap this up. Again, I DON'T HATE KIDS. I HATE TEENAGE VIOLENCE. I HATE GANG MEMBERS, I HATE CRIMINALS set on destroying anything and everything they can get their hands on. Now , I am not apologizing for anything that I said before, during or after. If you don't agree , thats fine. Can't please everyone and I won't try, don't need to. I don't know you and chances are you affecting my life is a real long shot unless you are one of those teens in my community practicing crimes.
