Grade It Now! NOW!!!

I am an impatient person. Yes, I am a slave to instant gratification.

Last Tues. I had a math quiz. I got a touch of test anxiety and though I knew the stuff, I'm not sure I did it right. Normally she'd hand them back the next class. Thursday she did not. I have been obsessing over that stupid test for almost a week, trying to remember what the questions were and do them over. I am a little bit crazy. Just a tad.

For my literature class, I had to write this big assignment on Henry V. I mulled it over for two weeks and worked on it for five hours straight yesterday, getting it Just Right. I sent it in last night. OK, so grade it already! I am going nuts waiting and wondering.

Yes, I know teachers have other things to do. I have other things to do too. It's a little bit silly to expect overnight turnaround on this stuff. But AAHHHH the suspense is killing me!

I really need to get over this.

Thanks for listening.

I would much rather an instructor take the time to read my answers objectively and try to see how I came to my answer than to quickly mark me "right or wrong". This allows me the possibility of partial credit on math tests - when work is shown - or for a fair assessment on an essay question that I have answered directly against the personal bias of the instructor.

Careful what you ask for...

I second that! Edayna - You are smart, and of course you'll do just fine...

Now I'm in suspense, so you better let everyone know that you got perfect A's on both, hon!

OK, since you wanted to know!

I got 8/10 on the math quiz. I guess that's OK. I got 5/5 on the little mini-quiz we had last Thursday, so there's hope. Big test is next Thursday.

I still haven't gotten the grade on my Lit paper. (sigh) The teacher is out of town for a few days. She is checking in, but I guess she's not doing any evaluations. But it'll probably be fine. I just want to know how I did before the next one is due, because it's similar and of course I need to know what worked and what didn't! It's due next Monday so she better hurry up.

Had our first of 4 History exams. Got 97%. OK, I should be happy with this, but I worked really hard and I still got 2 wrong!

As far as I know, I have 100% thus far in my Tech Writing class.

And for the 5th one...the exam for Comparative Music has been available online all week and I need to do it by 5 p.m. tomorrow. I am having trouble with this one because it's an online only class and all we do is read the book and take tests on it. When you have a teacher who is actually teaching, you get some impression of what they consider important and likely to appear on a test. But on 4 chapters of a book, gosh, that's a lot to remember. It's kind of a boring book, too. I swear, I never thought music could possibly be boring, but it is now!

On the bright side, my daughter has been inspired by one of the topics in that class -- the throat singers of Tuva, specifically Huun-Huur-Tu -- and wanted to use that for her upcoming non-fiction book report. Do you know how hard it is to find a book about Tuvan throat singers? Or any kind of throat singers, for that matter? I looked in the larger of our two local libraries, and of course, no luck. So I got her a book from the college library. Won't THAT impress her teacher.

Sounds like you are doing fine. Better than fine, as a matter of fact.

Yup, got 100% on that comparative music class. Wasn't nearly as hard as I'd feared. In fact, it was taken directly from the quizzes on the book's companion website. They gave us 45 min. and I did it in 10. I honestly can't see how anybody would get less than 100 on that one. Don't know the answer? Look it up!

I'm doing OK. Now I'm all paranoid 'cause I see that I need a 3.3 GPA for grad school later on.

At this point I am only 49 credits away from the finish line! That is approximately 12 classes.

Finally got the Lit assignment graded. 9.8/10!

OK, I'll stop bragging now. I'm just so relieved that after such a long time out of the classroom, I still remember how to do it!

I go through the same anxiety after a test. I am still waiting on my final I took Thursday. And I won't be able to actually get that grade, just the final grade for that class. Tomorrow. I'll get the grade for the exam on Monday the 5th. I hope.
Congrats on your grades.

Fantastic work, edayna! Remember, though, that if you weren't at least a little bit anxious, it probably means you weren't learning anything new. So a little nervousness is a good sign!

And Vickie, good luck to you on those papers!

How Awesome!! Congratulations. Somehow those good grades and honors seem much sweeter at a more mature age, don't they?!
Good going!
