One really should keep track

...of the number of eggs one puts in the incubator

I've got quite a number of chicken eggs going....that is a known quantity. BUT I've been collecting turkey eggs as they are laid and putting them in as well. Today I decided it was time to inventory and make sure I knew when to transfer to the hatch-a-bator. Figured I had maybe 7, 8 turkey eggs going. Bought 5 new poults from the farm store so we'd have "a few" to butcher.

I've got 16 turkey eggs in the bators. and 2 more sitting on the counter ready to go in.

now..I've only GOT 2 turkey hens laying. I SWEAR I only put in a few eggs.... When I candled just now, they're ALL growing. the earliest ones (ready to hatch in a few days) are even peeping. April is going to be one exciting month around here! (and the first week of May isn't going be exactly QUIET!)

I'd better build a bigger brooder. and a new coop. (and probably a dog house for me to live in for a while)

Talking

No, you never count how many eggs you put in....that way when your husband asks you can say "I don't know" and it isn't a lie.
