Just bought a new truck!

New is a relative term of course.

1955 Chevy 3500 --buying it from the original owner! Will be restoring it with my dad.

**Congrats!**

What a great find! I've been trying to talk DH into getting us an old truck to restore but I've not been successful yet.

Keep us updated with pics of the restoration.

I saw the title....and said to myself...What?

Was pleasantly surprised when I opened the thread. Nice truck.

My dad had 2 old Internationals when I was a kid. The 1st was a 51 1/2 ton. He drove that until he found his next International. A 57 4x4 3/4 ton with 22,000 miles. That was around 1977. I loved that truck. It still had the original knobby tires on it.

Enjoy your "new" truck.

Just got back from paying for it. Not bringing it home til next week because Ive got to have my brother come help me out.

But, its kind of insane. Not only was it the original owner( he had the original title from 1955 where he bought it for $939), but its all original. Even all the rims are original including the original spare tire rim in the back. I actually think it has the original tires on it, And they all still hold air except the front ones leak down since they sat flat for so long. The hood and the doors open and close good. The blue color you can see with the rust is the original paint job, it was baby blue. Its not very often you find a vehicle over 50 years old all original for sale by the original owner. Looks like it will be a great project.

I have a '56 Chevy pick up that was originally the same color. What engine is in it? Mine had had the original straight six replaced with an older straight six. When I got it from my grandfather when I was 15, I put a small V-8 in it out of a Camaro. I have had it now for 29 years and never got it finished and on the road. It's about 75% finished and now my 2 teenage sons want to finish it so they can drive it.

This one has the 6 cylinder in it. It cranks good and was running until it was parked. Im thinking with new gas, carb cleaned, probably new points/plugs in it and it will run. I forgot to look to see how many miles it has on it. Its funny but the town I bought it in was the same town it was bought in from the chevy dealer there in 1955. This truck has spent its whole life in the same town, lol.

Watch how you sand blast it if you do. It will distort it and it will be hard to correct. Use a rust remover to remove the rust. It looks to be in pretty good shape and good luck with it. Sam
