My hometown rocked by explosion

The Boone Hotel built in the 1700's was being renovated by Nora Roberts (best-selling romance novelist real name E. Aufdem-Brinke) when it exploded and destroyed several other businesses. She had a bookstore acrosss the street and owned several other buildings in town. We were neighbors of the writer when we lived there.

Hello, Rita, Dh and I are Brunswick Railroaders and live very close to there. They were remodeling the hotel and they said a heater in the basement caught the old wood on fire. It has burned since this moring. It was a four-alarm fire. It burned several more buildings and blistered the ones across the street. You couldn't get thru Boonsboro all day.
Her sons' pizza place, which is located across the street, burned last year.

Hope everyone is okay, especially Nora, she's my absolute favorite author!! I hate it when historical places get ruined. DH and I adore old buildings/homes.

From what I heard, they were propane heaters the workers were using to keep warm. The building was mostly gutted. They had blue tarp on the south side of the building. It's amazing how while the building was engulfed in flames, that tarp was still there!
