Checking on insurance rates

I try to make it a practice every year to shop around for insurance rates. I've found that after about two years with a company, I can get better rates from another company. I assume it is because they are trying to attract new customers, and once you're with them, they just raise your rates!

I spent 2 hours on the phone, and just switched my auto and homeowner's insurance back to Liberty Mutual (had them 2 years ago) from Geico. Between the two policies, I save $529 for the year!

Oh - and I also made a correction on my phone bill and saved 75 cents.

A good day!

You have to compare service too. If the company doesn't handle claims through their own offices you can get really messed over. Happened with a cut rate auto ins company we had for a short while. Happened with our home owners and the lightning strike too. May cost less but when you have no water for 2 weeks the $$$ doesn't matter a whole lot.
