Circuit City and Employees

My oldest brother and my nephew, age 20(his son) went to Circuit City to check out some sales. While my nephew went to check out, my brother said he was feeling tired and decided to wait for him out in the car. When he saw my nephew come out he noticed a guy follow him out the store and start talking with him. So my brother got out of the car, and went over to see what this guy was asking him. Turns out its a security guard who accused my nephew of stealing something.
My nephew told him he didn't steal anything, and had a receipt for the item he bought. Security guard said that if he returned the item, he wouldn't call the police and they had it all on tape of him stealing something.
My brother and nephew told the guard, fine, call the police and let's go in to view the tape.
Well, apparently the manager ended up apologizing to my brother and my nephew for the mistake over and over again.

Do they hire nitwits or what??

Honestly it sound like a genuine mistake. The security guard probably did think that he saw him steal something - obviously he was mistaken. Mistakes do happen. Also, I am sure that people that are caught stealing deny it all the way and security guards have probably heard it all.

Yes, it was inconvenient but I don't think it is worth worrying about.
