Do you find it harder..........

to wait until Christmas when you know what's in your presents

My best friend asked me what I wanted so I told him woodwork tools. My mum laughed at the time and said "he'll probably send you a full tool chest" Well - I collected the parcel form the airport and I would guess it contains everythign I could need apart from a workbench LOL. I keep looking at that parcel thinking "if I opened it now I could........." (not that I have so much as a spare minute right now but I keep convincing myself that I could find a couple fo hours to play )

Then, when my DD saw Santa and he asked what she would like for Christmas she said "a pair of slippers, a game, and a nice book for mummy" So I have bought myself the Carla Emery book to go in her stocking for me it arrived from Amazon today and I am itching to get my hands on it - I hav eheard so much about it

And thirdly DD is knitting me a scarf for Christmas which she is working like a demon at trying to get it finished so I can wear it on Christmas day. VERY much looking forward to wearing it

Funny, I prefer not to know what I am getting - I LIKE surprises. But this year I am like a kid at ...... well at Christmas really

Do you like to know, or do you like surprises ?

I know what you mean. My Hubby is building duck pens for me to put my anniversary present in. I can't wait for them to be finished so I can seperate the ducks by breeds and each breed will have their own pen and little house.

My sisters have laughed at me because when they ask what I want for Christmas then I tell then pens for my ducks. They think it is funny. Go figure.

I love surprises too. My hubby manages to surprise me every once in a while but most of the time I know before hand what he has for me. I think Christmas brings out the "Kid" in most of us. It does this old baby boomer. LOL

LOL Jan. Duck pens for Christmas sounds great. I have to confess that I nearly asked my friend for sheep for Christmas then I thought about all the prep I would have to do before christmas to get ready for them and decided maybe tools was safer DD's pony has shared his stable with many other animals (he isn't called Billy the BAbysitter for nothing you know) but even he would probably draw the line at a handful of sheep

Cyndi - I always get really apprehensive about giving presents. I always worry that I won't have got the right thing, or they won't like it Just born to stress I think

I love surprises, and if I know what's in the packages it's not as much fun when we open them. My SO is really good at giving surprises. I never know what's going on until I'm hit with it

but a tool chest? WOW. I'd be tearing into that package with both hands! You're a lot stronger than I would be

I think it gets easier. We didn't even try to come up with gifts this year, our gift was to throw a blowout party for friends and family this year. As luck would have it we also got socked with nasty weather so turnout was sparse (and that's being generous). Still, we had fun, leftovers to keep me and her in lunches through most of Jan. and beer and liqour that was never opened (that's MY kind of prepping). Since our anniversery is Dec. 24th we'll shoot for our traditional window walk in Cincinnati and then visit with my parents and siblings that evening before Midnight Mass (thanks Quentin for working another Christmas Eve instead of me). I think knowing what our gifts are allows us to enjoy them long before and long after the Holiday.

I know what I'm SUPPOSED to be getting -- DH and I agreed on a new dining room suite -- but I also wanted rabbit hutches. DH looked at me funny when I asked for those, of course, but...

I'd have to say that I like being able to know before hand so I can prepare to make room for it. I've always hated surprises. And this drives my SO nuts. Ever since I was a small child, I was always getting into places I shouldn't so I would know.

I already got mine. SO can't wait till Christmas. Even if it is what I told him NOT to buy and isn't what I wanted. He got me a beautiful gold chain to hang my cameo of a mother and child on because the one that came with it was so fragile. I would have much rather had a handmade Japanese chef knife and sharpening stone. I had it all picked out and showed him where to order it from. Oh well. Something I will have to order myself after the new engine in my car is paid for and the tooth I broke is fixed. Both were Christmas surprises I would have preferred not to get. Like the gold chain. But I will love wearing that chain just the same.

Oh hoggie, don't stress! I have the kids go through cataloges and circle & initial what they dream of. My oldest son is off at college, so I guessed. The last 2 days he's been calling and giving me his Christmas wishes Sure, like I can get these things in this small town or here by Tuesday in the post! Kids!

My stepfather, who was basically a jerk, had a Christmas problem.....
He couldn't wait! It started innocently enough with opening one Christmas Eve and over the years it grew to a horror of gift wrap and ribbons that stretched for days..to the point there at the end of my childhood.. THERE WAS NOTHING LEFT FOR CHRISTMAS MORNING!!!!
We would open one on one night a few nights before Christmas.. then 2 the next night etc.. we might have had one left under the tree. It was kinda funny, kinda sad!
I do not have that problem! It is all good until we go to Mom's Christmas Eve and open her's then.. the rest can wait until Christmas morning.. to be opened the right way.. with the scent of cinnamon rolls wafting from the kitchen and mixing with the glory of cofffee and the hint of woodsmoke! Piles of paper on the floor and happy people all around... kida sad with just the three of us, but still good!

I asked for a little half and half donkey about an hour away, named Half Moon, for Christmas. I b'leve this will be the only christmas I didn't get what I asked for, lol.
I'm excited for Greg to open his presents Christmas morning. I got him George Jones tickets. For years he's said he wants to see him before he (George) dies. Well, it's gonna happen this year and I'll suff- er, ENJOY it right alongside him. lol

Now I just need to decide where to PUT the tickets. In his stocking? A pocket of the jeans I got him? The pouch of the hoodie? Decisions, decisions....

Oh, how I love Christmas! I love the surprises, the faces of the dh, kids and grandkids. It is so much fun... I have to hide the best surprises from dh because he is worse than any child when it comes to keeping a secert! He will 'slip' with something, that gives away the surprise! So, over the yrs. , I just wrap and forget about them until it's time. This yr. has been really hard because I THINK, I have a wonderful gift for our oldest dd. When she was 7 or so, Santa brought her a record player with lights and all.. Over the yrs., it had gotten gone and for yrs. now, she has said that that was the greatest gift ever and how she wished she still had it.. Well, I found one on ebay--just like it and it is in perfect condition and for a 'song'! Then I have purchased her three favorite LP's to go with it! So, I have been dying to show it to someone! I know she will just go crazy over it.. We do our Christmas on Christmas Eve so Santa can visit the Grands and we can go to MIL... QB
