Looking for a unique wallet for a man.

Anyone know where I can find this:

tri fold, real leather, preferably cowhide, ostrich, farmed alligator or something similiarly tough but not endandgered - lots of room~!~!~ for lots of junk..

for a guy. If anyone here dabbles in this sort of thing and can make something (this is so close to Christmas..I know)..I am interested. I shop for unique gifts so am looking for something one doesn't see "everyday".

Price: $50. or under..depending on style, leather quality and whether mass produced or not. Consider more for non mass produced, NICE leather work that will hold up to a working guy..(who really works at a physical job, not a desk job). No chains involved so no "biker" type wallets. Something that will last and last and last..but look sharp and be unique and will definitely travel the world so would be a statement about someone's abilities as a craftsman.

Thanks!

Yeah, try Ebay. You may be able to get the wallet, or the leather. I can usually find various trifolds at the rummage, but it's late in the year for that. It shouldn't be too difficult to find a pattern online if you have the leather. I've got a pattern somewhere in my computer for a duct tape wallet, if you should decide on that.

No haven't tried ebay..so off I go..I have looked at Kenneth Cole, Fossil, Gucci, Field and Stream...

am sick of looking and nothing just jumps right out there and says "spend the bucks and take me home"..maybe ebay..

thought someone here might be into leather working and I'd give them the deal.

Bink..I don't have any leather (well chaps but those are for special occasions - lol)..riding my mare when she decides 30 degrees means "jump and give Mom a heart attack - lol..

which is why I am visiting the reining trainer, can't beat those guys for putting a handle on a horse, especially a very spoiled english horse..lol.

You might be able to find the leather itself on Ebay. If you search under ostrich or alligator, you may be able to find enough leather to repurpose. Yardsaling in Dallas, I found an ostrich handbag that would have yielded enough to make a wallet. That and a pattern, and you may be set.

But then again, if you decide it's too much hassle and that this person doesn't have a duct tape wallet, after all, let me know and I'll find you a link or such to the instructions.

I have a leather wallet sold by Orvis. Great quality and it is somewhat unique. Here's a link to them.

thanks but I don't want to make the wallet myself, just looking for someone else to make it or point me to a very unique maker.

I couldn't make a wallet out of leather if I had instructions and a year to do it in..

just not crafty in that direction!

But I liked the tri fold Orvis..but still not quite what I am looking for..will keep the search going..

We found a nice wallet made from buffalo hide while we were in South Dakota...I'll have to search and find out who made it (my husband likes a wallet that will last 10+ years)

www.thebuffaloshop.com has some similar to the one he has.

That's what I carry, a duct tape wallet. You wouldn't believe the comments and stares I get from it. It sometimes quite a subject to get people talking about it. You can also make them out of different colored duct tape including Camoflage.

They also last a long time. If they appear to be wearing out just slap on another piece of duct tape and "Walla" you have a new wallet.

This last wallet of mine I made it twice as big as the first one so it would hold more money in it. Hasn't worked yet tho!

Buxton makes wallets that last forever, they have a large selection of men's tri-folds and their craftsmanship is excellent. I still use a Buxton wallet that I've had for 30 years.

Alot of people hate Walmart but I got my dad a beautiful leather wallet with a deer on the front. He had it for almost a decade and it lasted very well.
