One deer down...one to go!

I was blessed yesterday with two deer! Dh doesn't hunt but we have a good friend who is in a hunting club and most of them don't want the meat. So he brings it to me. I had my coolers ready. The younger dd's and I got started right away. Took us most of the day since I had to help them and make sure they didn't cut themselves. They were determined to help though. They're 11 and 8 and they did a good job! The 11yo worked all day at it. By the time we were finished she was getting a little silly. Usually I can get one cut up and packaged for the freezer in about 3 1/2 hours. We kept stopping though yesterday. This was a nice sized deer too. So today we finish the other one. They came just in time too....my freezers were about empty. Now I'll have plenty of deer, turkeys bought on sale this week, and I have about 10 chickens that I'm planning on doing right after Thanksgiving. And there's hopefully more deer to come.
