Photography Contacts

Does anybody here do any photograpy? I am SUCH an ametuer, but I do love to take pictures! I have a few that I believe are pretty good. Can anybody give me pointers on how to get in contact with folks who might be looking for scenery or animal pics?

I love, love, LOVE taking pictures! Especially now that that Husband o' Mine gifted me with a new camera 2 weeks ago

I don't know how to make any contacts for selling photos, though, as that's not something 'up my alley' at this point. Have you tried Google or some photography forums maybe?

That being said, what kind of camera do you have? Would you show us some of your pics? If you're interested in just browsing pics, I've several of mine on my blog and website below

There's not a whole lot of money in stock photography. There are many photography forums online and I have met a few very nice professional photographers that way. Years ago I met a very nice nature photographer that kind of took me under his wing and was very kind and helpful. Many forums will critique your work for you and give you pointers on improvement. I'm sure they could put you in touch with the right people. One of the best photography forums used to be an aol but I think they started having problems with fighting and closed it down, I might be wrong since its been a long time since I was an aol member.

Just a caution

Just a caution as I can't help with your question.

So many folk enter photography contests for phone book covers, with their local or state tourist agencies, etc. and receive very little for their effort---while many require full rights to the photo signed over to them. I've been tempted to enter contests several times but find the rewards or cash prizes not worth what a good photo might bring in a sale.

Ever read any of those entry rules for submitting a picture of a child? Most often you sign away the rights of the photo to be used in any manner, i.e. advertisements, etc. No wonder so many contests are held--to yield cheap photos of cute kids.

I haven't tried any photography forums. This is the first place I have posted for information if, by chance, anybody here could give me any pointers. We have a Canon 35mm camera with a zoom lens. It takes nice pictures. I do not have a scanner to be able to post the pictures I have taken. I entered one of them in a contest and SUPPOSEDLY got published in a book. It was a winter snow scene of our barn and the country road that goes past it. I didn't buy the book they were trying to sell me that contained the picture. That would be a lot of fun to have a photographer critique my work and give me pointers. I took one of a bullfrog on an old oak plank that stuck out over our pond. Another of a HUGE icicle that had frozen running off the bluff past our house. Another of one of our momma cows and her calf and the calf had it's eyes closed while momma had her nose against him. Just FUN pictures and I really enjoy looking for a nice shot. I also do oil painting of scenery, so I watch for scenes I could take a picture of and then paint it. Oh, thanks, Big Rockpile, I am very interested in what they have to say when they answer your inquiry. Windy, that's exactly what I am afraid of. I sure don't want to do the pics and let somebody else get the profit from them.

If you can get your 35mm put on CD you can then post them. Or do you do your own developing?

I would love to have a dark room so I could do some photo work. I have a Minolta X700 35MM with several different lenses. They still take better pics than the digital, but you have to wait so long to see how they turn out. If you had your own darkroom you could develop them and go right on from there.
