Frozen Turkey - How long in freezer and still good?

I've looked online and everything I've read says that you can keep a turkey frozen for up to a year without any loss of flavor or texture. I thought for sure I had read before that you can keep them longer than that and they are still fine. Has anyone kept one longer than a year and had it turn out well?

Thanks,
Sallie (who will admit she has two turkeys languishing in her deep freeze...)

The last one I cooked had been in there for about a year and a half. Tasted good to me!

I have no qualms with keeping one a couple years and still using it.

Theoretical: If your freezer is keeping things deeply cold then the food will be good for thousands of years. Time isn't the issue. Temperature is. Low enough temperatures stop biological activity and if you get it still lower then the chemical activity stops too. Well wrapped things will lose less moisture which is the cause of freezer burn.

Practical: I've eaten four year old pork loin that I discovered at the bottom of our freezer. It was delicious and tender.

Cheers
