It's been a weird day -- just a bunch of little strange things happening.
First, DD's school bus was late. She called me (from the end of the driveway) while waiting (in the dark) and told me there were a bunch of chicken bones down there, that evidently someone had pitched from a car. She said it was really gross and asked me if I'd clean it up later. How strange!
My son leaves for school two hours later. I went down to the end of the driveway with him, I wanted to see all these chicken bones...and there weren't any. There were a few twigs, maybe she thought they were chicken bones? Why on earth would she even think of that?
While I was waiting with him, just as the bus arrived, I happened to glance back toward the backyard, and I spotted one of my barred rock hens running around the yard, dogs in hot pursuit! Quickly telling my son goodbye, I dashed up toward the ruckus, yelling at the dogs to stop! Fortunately I caught the escapee and put her back in the pen. Weird! One of the buff orps was perched on top of the fence, too! They never do this. They perch up there sometimes at dusk, then have to be knocked down and put in their coop, but they never get out.
Well, one did, once, which is why I'm down to 4 hens now...you want to know what is REALLY weird? The last hen to get out (and unfortunately I wasn't there to rescue her) did so on the Friday before we went camping the last time. We are going camping tonight. Now that is really freaky, I hadn't thought of that till now.
The next weird thing is that as I was coming back home from visiting my mom in the hospital this morning, I noticed our little town's main street totally backed up with cars and semi trucks, but only going north bound. Turns out there was a big wreck on the highway and it's closed off.
I mentioned this all to my mom (except the traffic, obviously) and she asked me what day it was...for a moment I thought it might be Fri. the 13th, but no, it's just the 12th.
Hm...what next?
