UPDATE on anxiety

Well, my three weeks are up and I have definitely discovered a few things about my anxiety....

1) I do have NORMAL blood pressure.... really..... its like 125/70 when I am calm and feeling good.....

2) I kept track for three weeks and discovered that at the times when my BP was very high ------- my mother was either with me or I had just spoken to her!!! Very interesting......(will definitely be watching this for a major pattern)

3) I did what several people mentioned and am trying some different things to help when I have a severe anxiety attack... (breathing techniques, etc)

The doctor had told me to come back in three weeks..... so I did.... (DH almost fell over cause I usually NEVER go see the doctor (let alone twice in three weeks without insurance!)

He decided that we would try Celexa... I am two days in on the meds and other than feeling VERY tired after I take it, things are good... We'll see.... I am optimistic tho..... anything is better than the way I have been feeling!

Tami, there are many different medications they can try if need be. But if this works well for you, maybe you could take it closer to the evenings so you can sleep easier.

I'm sorry to hear your mother could be causing your anxiety.

Tami- It is normal to feel tired on these meds until your system adjusts to them. I also agree with WIHH...it would be much better to try to get to the root of the anxiety. While you are on the meds might be a good time to try...they will help calm you while you can examine possible causes. I will keep you in my prayers.

Note to Texastami:

Stay away from your mother. She isn't good for your health.

I understand all too well.

Tami - glad to hear you are doing everything you can to take care of yourself.

I'm sure the doctor advised you, or perhaps there was paperwork with the meds, that there is usually a 3-4 weeks adjustment before you can have full benefit.

Wind gives (again) good advise, if you can discover the triggers you can learn to either avoid or work around them. If it turns out to be a chemical imbalance please accept it just like you would having to take insulin for diabetes - something which is not your fault

Stay well,
Marlene

I have the same issues as you have -

*a mother that causes you stress and anxiety

*i've been on celexa for almost a year....it has worked wonders for me.

However, like the others have mentioned......you'll have to work on what's really eating at you. In my situation, I don't see my mother anymore. It has been hard, but my life quality has been SO much better. I haven't seen my mom in over two years, but we had a had a rocky relationship ever since the birth of my first son almost 7 years ago. If you want more info, you can pm.

God Bless - gg
