another neighbor rant

they called the sherriff again.
i was out with the kids picking blackberrys. got a call from my wife. the sherriff was at our house needing to take statments from me and the kids.
the neighbor had called us in for animal abuse. said they smellet dead animals on our land. sherriff said he didnt smell anythingh. now we are going to be monitered for god knows how long . we have to give them a copy of all feed receipts.
a little back ground into the neighbor.
she moved from the city to the country. thinks that she is a cop(was a rent a cop but got fired). thihks every thing in the country sould be ran like in the city.
ever since she has moved here she has called the sherriff over stupid stuff(to get us in trouble) more than i can count on my hands and toes. called dhs last year about this time becouse i shot a dog in my pins killing animals said my kids were out side when i shot the dog. also said my kids were runnig out in the road without adult sup. my kids are the only ones in the community that doesnt play in the road.
we had bought a differnt house so we wouldnt be so close to her and now this. i am getting close to losing it.

Wow, sounds like a real friendly neighbor ya got there Reb
Let the sheriff know you are tired of the false accusations if that's what they are and report her! and if there's no dead critters laying around and your animals are healthy tell the sheriff to take a look and then a hike...there's nothing to monitor and feed bills are your business not his..unless he's gonna help pay them........
Hope it works out for ya

i have told the deputys that come out here what she is doing and most dont care. says their is nothing i can do.
the sherriff took pics of animals and feed and said he will be back he said that he didnt see anything that look like abuse. i quess that state laws or somethingh they have to moniter and do follow ups.(guilty till prove innocent)

It sounds as if you already got your answer, if the Sheriff has already said he didn't smell anything, and he hasn't seen anything that looks like abuse. I wouldn't worry about it.
He's probably required by law to take pics and report it if someone calls and makes an accusation. Even if he thinks there is no abuse.
Furthermore, it probably just documents your case more in your favor.

Do you have Legal Aid in your county? Sounds like something you might want to look into.

Sorry to hear you're having so much trouble with such a misguided person.

Turn about is fair play, yes? Shoot a couple of coons or possums and throw them onto her property where she can't see them, and call the police and say you smelled something dead on her property, something must be wrong.

Cool there is a wonderful

There is a wonderful device out on the market now called a hunting camera that is tree mounted and motion sensitive that would capture any intrusion or Tresspass on your property. They are relatively inexpensive ( On sale ) and can be easly concealed.
Link > see some of them here !

This would give you EVIDENCE that the neighbor is intruding. It can be used for alot of evidence gathering before The Law Enforcement gets involved. It can also be used in a tort case where by the neighbor is preventing you from reasonablly enjoying your property and thus infringing on your rights. A stiff lawsuit might get this PITA to shut up and move on to someone else.

Just one of the " Nicer" ways to rid yourself of a PEST

BTW always get copies of reports taken by officials and get names & badge numbers , document everything. It's good as $$$ in court.

I have a question regarding the cameras... I went to the Cabela's website link and noticed that all the cameras have a flash, except for the infrared which was very expensive. If one were using a camera at night, the flash would alert any intruders to it's presence and then the intruder could steal or smash the camera. Are there no cameras that have night vision ability without a flash that would be more affordable?

Monitored? Submit feed invoices? I'd be talking to the County DA's office about this guy. He found nothing of concern and yet he's demanding you prove your innocence? It doesn't work that way!

I think it's time to invite the neighbor for lunch. Talk seriously about the conflict and how you know she has such a huge adjustment due to her move.

Send her home with cookies.

Kindness. It's an option.

Well if kindness doesn't work, and the cookies are a nice option, I would opt for a call to a lawyer and a well placed letter regarding harrassment to the neighbor. Some people need a hobby - too bad you the hobby for this nut case!

The neighbor is a problem, yes, but the sheriff has no business monitoring and making someone prove their innocence! I'd speak to the DA and get that guy to back off! You are still innocent until PROVEN guilty in this country, not vice versa!

Rose you go girl That would be my first choice also, and if that failed:

If I were not doing anything illegal, or endangering my children, animals, etc. I would not care how many times the Sheriff's department came to my home with a complain from a neighbor. I'd invite the deputy or sheriff in for cookies and coffee or a cold drink It would not take them very long to figure out who the problem was and they know how best to take care of such people.

Hugs,
Marlene

Maybe you should buy my neighbor's house and sell them yours. Then they could call the police on each other. He also likes to call DFACS, the Environmental Protection Agency, Build Code Enforcement, the Health Department and so on and so on and so on.

i have tryied the nice stuff in the past even after they had called the sherriff on us. gave them fresh eggs, sacks of tomatoes, and other fresh fruits and veggies. still they got worst. after they called dhs on use we finlly put a stop to the niceness.

sancraft i would almost do that but i am the 5th generation to live in this community. the place i just moved to is my great great granpas place.
i know how you feel she has called the deq, epa, dot, dhs, shp, osd and any other place she thinks might get us in trouble.

i will probable have to sit down and talk to the actual sherriff he seems to be pretty nice. the deputys have all been jerks even the assitiant dep( i have had words with him a few times not nice ones)
