Yesterday was a shocker....

I worked yesterday. I was in fifth grade working with a combined class as the regular teachers went with Beta students on a field trip.

During lunch an eleven year old boy gave two girls a lesson that was not included in the lesson plans that were left for me.

Four girls came to tell me what the boy had told those two girls. I almost had a heart attack. I called some other teachers out to help me handle the problem. The assistant principal was called in to help with this.

This young man has been watching movies on t.v. and I can tell you that if his mother knows about the child's choice of movies she (the mother) needs to be horse whipped. The boy told me that his mom knew that he watched the movies but he also said that she would spank him when she found out so who knows what the mother knows.

It is really sad that the eleven year old boy has lost any and all innocence that he had. What he described to the two girls was porn. Now the girls have lost their innocence too.

I know that today's children are exposed to more than even my older grandchildren were exposed to when they were growing up but... I was sickened by what this boy told those girls.

How can I help these children? I cried all afternoon after finding out what he had said to the girls.

I asked the girls that overheard the boy why they didn't come tell me while it was going on. Why they waited until lunch was over is beyond me. I was sitting with the children but did not hear him talking to the girls.

I have been so upset about this incident. I feel like I let those children down.
I feel like I let the teachers down and the parents too.

There's nothing you could have done. You can't be in all places at all times. unfortunately, this type of stuff is more common place than we want to believe. I sub in the highschool mostly and just finished a long term assignment with a 10th grade English class. I overheard a boy singing a song and what I heard was horrible. I told him to stop and asked him the name of the song. I asked my teen girls about this singer and they knew of him, but don't listen to him because, first it's rap and they don't like rap and second, "he's disgusting." I googles the lyrics and made it through the first 3 lines and closed the window. It was the most vile and disgusting thing. Ick, I felt like I needed a shower. Now my girls are homeschooled and don't since moving here, don't do much with other teens, so I asked where they even heard of this pervert. He's on the radio! What is this world coming to if this is the stuff on the radio. They have to bleep out most of the words, but you know what they are. And the content itself was simply vulgar.

Sandra, that is how I felt yesterday. A very hot shower with bleach.

These children are ten and eleven years old.

One of the teachers made a statement that the parents of the little girls would be calling. I told my husband that if it were my girls I would be at the school this morning wanting to talk with the parents of the boy.

You know when I was that age I thought you got pregnant by kissing and I grew up on a farm watching farm animals doing their thing!! I agree with Sandra..you can't be everywhere at one time. But it is nice to hear of people who care about what goes on in school...too many now days just shrug their shoulders in defeat.

It is SO sad the loss of innocence of this generation!!
