Choking up whil listening to Kiss the girl

I can see my baby girl standing there as if she were 7 again but she's not. She is grown and gone.. The song Kiss the girl from The little mermaid is playing on a bbc radio station and I'm fightingback tears. I remember so clearly buying ever mermaid doll I could get find and camping on the livingroom floor with her in my arms to watch the newbought video just like it were yesterday. Where did the years go?

My second born is 38 today. So today the memories are flooding back and and I dont get to see him much anymore. I miss him so much. My kids are 39,38,35, and 19. I agree the years pass by way too fast. NANCY

I'm sorry Nancy. Yes, it goes by too fast. I always wonder if new parents realize that.

My kids are 6,10, and 15. I sometimes get so caught up with farm work I forget to stop and enjoy time with them. I do think about the day when they are grown, and gone. Its a sad thought. I do take some time to just hang out with them, but probably not enough.

Oh, you made me ache when I read that. Isn't it funny what will spark a sweet memory?
When my son was about 15 he said, "Mom, get a job, I feel like all you do all day is think about me while I am at school."

I am still that way. I am glad that they can FEEL that all day long I think about them when we are apart.
I was so happy when they were little at home. I sat in the floor and watched Sesame Street and ate PBJ sandwiches for years until school and scouts and soccer and life took them away from me.

I am a "baby person". Give them to me when they are newborn to 6 yrs old. I am not so good with teens, but I try!

My babies are 18 (19 in June) and 15 (16 in Sept.).I love them so much. I can't imagine life without them. I know one day they will get married and move away to raise a family of their own. I'm trying to enjoy every minute that I have with them.

I miss boy scouts, gymnastics, ballarina classes, regular medical appointments, parent-teacher conferences, slumber parties, birthday parties, volunteering at school, bedtime stories...Oh, the list goes on and on..

I used to have my monthly calendar booked. I even kept a couple to reflect back on. What I wouldn't give to go back to those harried, hurried and frazzled days with my sweet little kids again.

Okay, time to push it to the back of my head, forget it for now and move on...

Little Mermaid: in '96 we wanted this out of print video for DD3 then, and saw it a at a pawn shop. "how much?" "Onefifty." Took out my $2 and waited for change and they said, "No, one hundred fifty dollars!" We borrowed it for a week from a friend with older kids and told him what a treasure they had in the video cabinet.

Many years ago DS (just turned 30) let me in on a big secret- certain Disney movies are "girl-getters". He especially referenced "Kiss the Girl" for seductiveness. there was a scene from Lion King also..

I don't think a lot of them do, Simplicity. When I was a new mother I had an older lady come up to me and say "Oh honey...enjoy every minute with them because it goes so fast". My thoughts were..."Oh yeah..all I do is diapers, feed babies and listen to crying". It couldn't go fast enough some days.

Then I blinked and they were grown up..my oldest is turning 27 in 2 weeks and my youngest daughter is turning 23 next week. I heard a Stevie Wonder song last week..."Isn't she lovely" and I burst into tears because that's the song I used to sing to my oldest.

But God in his infinate wisdom gave me 2 more babies...my sons are 6 and 4 1/2. While challanging at times there is nothing like it...I take time now and enjoy every minute I can! In 2 weeks my oldest son will graduate kindergarten and I know in a short matter of time he will be graduating high school.

Words of wisdom.....make everyday count so there are no regrets.
