Screen door information?

We have an old screen door that needs to be replaced. I have seen the sliding screens that go over the doors. My question is, have any of you ever used this type of door?

The screen isn't attached to a frame. It is just a screen that pulls over the door way. I was wondering if this would work for us at this time. We need something so we can keep our wooden door opened. The screen door that we have now is worn out and doesn't keep out the flies and bugs too well.

Any information will be appreciated. Thanks.

Can you supply a visual link? The term 'pulls over the door way' does not promote any visual image for me.

Moopups, I can't find a picture of one. They sort of pleat up when you open then. I guess I should have said pleating instead of folding. One can slide them back into pleats to open and pull them out flat to close. The door isn't in a frame of any type so they are probably a piece of screen on a hanger of sorts that just hangs over the door.

I have seen them advertised in the Lowe's and/or Marvins' circulars. They are relatively inexpensive costing somewhere between $12.00 and $20.00.

I hope this is more clear than the original post.

Ah, sort of like a shower curtain?

Since you mention Lowe's, I'm going to guess you've got one nearby. Go to them and look at the screen door selection. Carefully hidden in there are two types that are both cheap, and well suited to older homes.

One is the wooden one, for something like $12-20. I had one of those for a few years. They aren't very good actually, but they are cheap.

The other is white vinyl, in old door styles. Costs about $40 as I recall. Look carefully, it'll be tucked in the displays of the several hundred dollar doors. I've got one of these now. It's been up for several years, and is holding up just fine.

And your old door, is it repairable? It's really not hard to replace worn out screening in a door.

The screen is the only thing still good on the door. The wood is warped and cracked.

We do have a Lowe's here. Thanks for the info on the doors. We will have a look.
