Sitting at the kiddie table.....again

Well, this brings back memories.

Tonight I went over to Uncle D's house. He's 75 and he and I check out houses for my parents, go get lottery tickets, and just generally be there for each other. Uncle F and Aunt P are there in their 5th wheeler on the adjoining property they just bought so there'd be a place for them between working at RV parks around the country. And Uncle N and Aunt N came up from Fl to see them.

Tonight we all had supper together, and my oldest daughter came over also.
So, Oldest D and I sat at an adjoining "kiddie" table, as we were the youngest people there.

Sorta strange, but all the Aunts and Uncles are the brothers and sisters of my Mom.

Also, Uncle F and Aunt P have a Llapso apso dog that is mellow and okay to be around. Uncle N and Aunt N have a poodle that is 15 lbs of hyper and annoyance. I have to say, I've found a dog that I don't like. This poodle has been spoiled and now they are having to teach it that it's not the alpha at home. Have you ever been around a dog that you just don't like?

Oh well, interesting night.

Angie

You managed to bring back wonderful memories of me sitting at the kiddie table. That table was always the old ricktiy card table, the maroon top worn well from so many of us sitting at it over the years. This was back when they made things to last.

It also reminded me of my grandparents, at who's home we sat at the coveted kiddie table. Every time we visite we'd get a really small bottle of Welch's grape juice. This was as close as "junk food" as we ever got. And yet, it was not junk. I remember seeing that bottle that sat on a high shelf, wishing grandma would let us have the one bottle for that visit, and and as soon as I got it, it was gone!

I also remember the pattern of their kitchen tile, a dark maroon "fake stone" look that was popular waaaaay back when. And the adults having drinks and dinner in the other room. All was so innocent and comforting back then.

What I wouldn't give to be back at that same table, enjoying my grandparents who have been gone for many, many years.

I bet it was fun to sit at the kiddie table and be an adult. Sounds like fun to me!

Glad that you shared your evening with us, thanks.

Pat

Gosh....thanks for the memories of the kiddie table. I'll NEVER forget the year I graduated to the "big" table. Sat there for many years until my kids came along and then relegated myself back to the kiddie table to feed my own kids. I'm now back to the big table but for fun I still occasionally sit at the kiddie table.
