Girlie Hormonal Stuff

Does anyone here take primrose oil for their girlie hormonal stuff? I just endured my worst bout of pms or pre-menopause that I have ever experienced - it was bad enough to start looking for some hormonal help

Do you use anything? If so, what? And how has it helped you?

Maca root helps me with peri-menopausal syptoms. Doesn't cure them, but it helps.
I have a friend that takes Brevail and it seems to eleviate the pms mood swings for her.
I'd also suggest cutting out caffeine completely. That helped me the most.

oooooooh...I had not thought of the caffeine factor! I just started going back to school and drinking a lot more coffee now when I study at night. Thanks for the reply!

I take chaste tree berry. It is amazing the difference it has made. Sometimes I get off track on taking it and it doesn't take long for symptoms to start creeping up again.

Thank you. I have never heard of these things...mecca root and chaste berry, where does one find them? Does the chaste berry also help with the mood swings or is it just the physical bloating, pain, etc.? Thanks again

I have a friend whose dd took chaste berry (its also called vitex) and it made the biggest difference in that girls. She went from the mood swings from you know where, fits of crying, cramping till she doubled over in the floor, to being almost human at that time of the month.

I've had good luck with evening primrose, but I may try the chaste tree berry myself.

Nikki, since no one else has answered your question about where to purchase those supplements thought I'd let you know it's likely a health food store. I say this because I was picking up some hummus at the one in Eureka Springs yesterday and while waiting to check out I was reading the labels on the supplements

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Hugs
Marlene

I never had any PMS issues (except cramps as a teen) until after I had my second child. Then I would have a "body flashback" where my thighs, abdomen, etc. all felt like I had just delivered...every month. Along with the cramps. The only thing I've found that helped was the Evening Primrose capsules. I usually forget to take them until I feel the symptoms, but apparently if you start taking them a few days before your period is due to start, you can avoid the PMS symptoms altogether.
