My daughters idea of the future (she is 8 years old)

My daughter had to write a story about what she thought the future would be like. She wrote:

In the future everyone would live on a little farm. They would grow their own food and have a milk goat. They would have chickens but not roosters.

She drew a cute picture to go along with it. I'm going to frame it and put it in on the wall. (the rooster part makes me laugh, she is scared to death of roosters after our last rooster loved to chase her around the yard....she didn't feel bad about eating him!)

The other kids wrote about robots that cleaned their rooms and hovercrafts. The teacher made a bulletin board with all of the papers. I thought you guys would get a kick out of it!

I work at a school (elementary) and I love to walk down the halls and read the stories the teachers post of what the children wrote. Sometimes they really make you think.

Hollee, I wonder where a kid picks up strange ideas like that? How long will it be until she wants to include a horse on her farm? LOL

Your daughter has a good concept of reality

but may not realize the world is only large enough for only a slight fraction of its current number of people to all live on small farms, say 64 acres per family of 4 (which would allow only about 1/8th. the world's current numbers on the 12.5 billion or so acres of the world's farmable land).
