The IPCC Climate Change Report is Out

The last time there was this much scientific consensus, it was on whether smoking caused lung cancer. Every word in this report must be agreed upon by thousands of scientists of all kind - so this report is very conservative in its assessments. Which is pretty scary.

Why?

In 1996 the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change issued a chart showing climatic change over a period of 1000 years. This graph showed a Medieval warming period in which global temperatures were higher than they are today. In 2001 the IPCC issued another 1000 year graph in which the Medieval warming period was missing. Why? What does this one show?

If you truly think the UN is your friend, you havent been paying attention.

Huh? There was a period of medieval warming - this is well known and well understood - and it was no where near as warm as it is now. And it is still evident on every chart I've ever seen. Can you cite any evidence, say, the original charts?

The UN comissioned the IPCC report, but used *thousands* of independent scientists to draw its conclusions, all of them having a vote on how to phrase this. Suggesting that this is some kind of conspiracy is just wacko.
