Melissa,
I absolutely adore "Confessions of a Pioneer Woman". I am pleasantly surprised that you enjoy it. I would have assumed that you would have been turned off by Ree's occasional use of er... colorful language.

I know you have strong feelings against profanity but I find Ree's use of it pretty much perfect. Her occasional interspersing of colorful words is what makes her writing just pop. It isn't gratuitous. It is very witty and spot on. She uses it sparingly and so it really adds emphasis.

I really like ree and I like you for liking her

I spent the day reading everything on there & occasionally shared with hubby (aka MY Marlboro Man).

Ree is now in my favorites column!

I clicked on this thread 2 hours ago. Since then, I've been reading Ree's posts.

Oh my sweet lord, I laughed so hard, I cried, while reading about the poopin barbie dog.

Having grown up on a working ranch, I relate so closely to many of her posts. Looking at her photos, I realize, I need to go digital. I must go digital...

Thanks Melissa for sharing!

Her photos are awesome.

As to the language, hey, I'm not walking around with perfect stamped on my forehead! Cale cusses like a, well, like a construction worker. Ever been on a construction job with a bunch of those guys? Yikes... Sometimes I threaten him with bodily harm if he so much as utters a cuss word, like in front of the preacher...

My husband is also a construction worker and has the same problem

One Christmas while we were driving to my in-laws I realized that I had forgotten an entire families gifts at home, 2 small kids in car, too far to turn around, and I was really upset at myself. I basically uttered a not very nice word about it. My husband said "mommy!". I said, "what! you cuss all the time". He said "yeah, but you're the mommy!".

Off topic but I've always found it funny that HE was offended by MY cussing!

p.s. thanks for the great link! I'm going to send it to my sister as well, I hadn't seen her blog.

Me too! I especially loved the pictures of the trucks on the ice a couple of weeks ago. Too funny!
