Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Phl. 2: 9-11

You guys have really outdone yourselves this time in the "oh, woe is me! I'm a sad-sack drama queen" category.

This thread reads so much like a comedy episode of "Debbie Downer meets Bob Bummer" that it's actually side-splitting hilarious.

Well done, I say, well done!

I can barely wait for the 2nd act on July 4th.

More often than not, I find that I'm not allowed to say that. But it looks like we're perfectly able to criticize one another here. We must live in a free country.
Nobody to whom? You know of him.

My guess is more people on Earth knows his name over any other.

Most do reject what he represents, to them he is no one,,

Hey, I'm cool.

Like I said, I'm an optimist.

I got faith in people.

Even the ones who mock Jesus.

One way or another everyone's question about him will eventually be answered.

I can't wait to read their posts about Mohammed.

I'm glad you found your certainty in life. I know some people need it in order to get to sleep at night. I also know that if you'd been born in the middle of the A.mazon, you wouldn't know who Jesus is and you wouldn't have that precious certainty. Anyway, at least you're humble enough to let the god you believe in sort me out when my time comes. We won't find peace on earth any other way.

Why do you care what I think about Mohammed? I think you can probably imagine my thoughts on that considering I'm an agnostic who doesn't really believe in organized religion. The only people I see here trying to force religious law on my country are Christians. Granted, according to the news, some other religious groups are working on the same concepts. But we don't need to be secular, right?

Whatever.

So you say man has not evolved at all in our 100,000 or more years on Earth.

Still you say basically the same thing as Wool. He says it is as it was since the first man.
No.

He said "fallen human nature".

We did not "evolve from Neanderthals", and human nature hasn't changed in any way that can be seen

Sorry, you have confused me considerably. Feel no need to reply to me, or about what I say.

I was referring to the ban on gay marriage though. I'm reading, I just don't agree. I'm sure that if we met in public we wouldn't even have this conversation and you seem like you would be plenty reasonable outside of sensitive debates.

I mean I honestly feel no hatred for any of you. I think that what bothers you about these things comes from a good place. You want people to be safe, you want the country to be safe, you want peace, you want people to make good decisions and be healthy. So I hope you don't think that this is hostile, even if I am intense about my opinions.

I did. I'm drawing the connection between what that dude said and the gay marriage bans. Notice I said that I was talking about it, not "you were talking about it."

I have been sort of thinking about this lately. Why do people not get along? Why the divisions? Why can't man make a government to last?

I have come to realize that people must worship something. Everyone has their sacred cow of sorts. Some worship the god of self. They decide what is right and wrong for themselves, no one should dare tell them "no." Some people worship medicine, and hold in awe the doctor as high priest. Still others worship the god of science, look to scientists to save humanity and explain our beginnings. Some worship the state, and think the state should know all, see all, and control all. Most, worship a combination of things. It doesn't matter atheist, or not, people must find something to worship. It is built into man, that is why every primitive culture finds something to worship. From the depths of the Amazon, to the jungles of Africa man, down deep in his mind, knows there is something higher and must find something to worship. I have come to realize that this is the cause of division among people, everyone holds one or more sacred cows that they hold dear, but they are different among the various groups of people.

Man can not go beyond what he is, until everyone worships the same God. This eliminates all the divisions people have. If everyone holds the same God then people will find agreement. The commandment "Thou shall have no other gods before (in place of) me," was in part to bring unity to society.

This brings us to the reset. What was the full gospel that Christ taught? It was the gospel of the kingdom. The good news that God himself will rule the earth for a thousand years through the Messiah, showing man how to be united in peace. Of course the Jewish religion awaits his coming, and we as Christians believe when he comes it will be the Christ that came before.

The bad news is, as society rots, the world will go through some tough times, then man will be ready to accept the kingdom of God when it arrives.

You've confused yourself by thinking we said the same thing, or that Neanderthals were our ancestors.
