Thank for the link. I needed a good laugh.:hysterical:

I'd really get them with the tank tracks problem.
You know the tracks that an army tank rides on, right?
If the tank is going 60 miles per hour how fast are the tracks on the bottom of the wheels going?

...............The sad part is they have NO insight whatsoever into the basic concepts of how to solve the problem ! For instance , how can anyone finish high school and NOT know that 60 mph is a mile a minute , i.e. 5,280 feet divided by 60 seconds = 88 feet a second . 80 mph means an object is covering 1 and 1/3 miles per minute . , fordy

Those kids have never been outside the city limits of Ferguson, MO. have they?

And if they have..... they must have been obeying the speed limit!

Actually......they could be charged with impeding traffic.

BadFordRanger 08/19/14 07:53 PM

Actually there are kids all over the country that graduates that can't figure out the simplest of problems, and I'll admit, it is worse with the black population but you wouldn't believe how many whites are right there with them.

Hey fordy, how fast are the tracks on top of the wheels travelling along?
Same thing goes with a regular tire, things just happen faster.

They would have gotten the answer sooner by driving 80 miles. At least at the end, the one guy was half right.

I really had my hopes up when I saw the link. I thought there was some arcane philosophical subatomic problem that had Einstein stumped, and two high school kids had NAILED IT.

Nimrod 08/20/14 01:49 PM

I love messing with the minds of the counter people at any fast food restaurant or retail store you want to name. Say your bill is $5.69. You hand them $20.70 and watch the confusion light up their face followed by the understanding when they put it into the register and get told what the change is.

The really scary part is that their vote counts the same as your's.

It is not funny.

Those are professional actors used to perpetuate the myths promoted by conservative republicans.

For those that do not have Facebook...

Danaus29 08/20/14 01:59 PM

They must be stuck in rush hour traffic.

fordy 08/20/14 02:08 PM

............HD , The video will work without FB..........it worked for me the first time and I don't subscribe to FB ! And , I believe the video is genuine , and not scripted . These kids are being allowed to move from one grade to the next regardless of their reading comprehension level and\or their test scores . , fordy

This is the best one ever!!! I could have identified with her a few years back :)

JJ Grandits 08/20/14 03:44 PM

We're doomed. Seriously.

They vote and they breed.

MOSSYNUT 08/20/14 04:15 PM

That was painful to watch. We are so screwed. Oh well on the bright side at least they can go out and vote for Hillary.:censored:

JJ Grandits 08/21/14 04:34 AM

I was going to say that the only hope we have is that they will confuse a voting booth with a candy machine.

But then I thought about it.

FeralFemale 08/21/14 05:45 AM

I dunno. I can be pretty stupid sometimes -- like when I thought the gear numbers/positions on a gear shift knob were raised so blind people know where the gears are. True story.

Who's mind are you trying to twist HD? No way those two idiots were professional any things but the idiots they are.

My daughter is 24 y.o. now and she has friends that come over every now and then and about any time a guy comes over if I am down in the shop they end up down there looking at what I'm doing and they are always just awed out, as one of them called it yesterday.
A couple that goes to church with Stacey stopped by yesterday and I thought about this thread and I ask them about the 80 mph thing and they both got it right but it took them a few minutes to figure it out with me prodding them too.
And then I ask them about the tracks o a tank.
The question is if a tank is going 60 mph, how fast is tracks that are on the "bottom" going.
The answer is 0 mph. They aren't moving period, from the time that they pass the front wheel of the tank and make contact with the ground they don't move until they are raised back up when the rear wheel gets to each bar on the track.
I had to get a v-belt and lay it on the work table and make it roll at the front and rear with the bottom setting still for them to understand that.

And then the next question is how fast is the tracks on the "top" going if the tank is still going 60 mph?
The answer to that was pretty hard for me to believe at first, but the tracks on the top are actually going 120 mph., and I like to never got either one of them to believe it even with me showing the v-belt on the table moving.

Nimrod you are right about that with the people that work the registers.
They are a trip sometimes.
And the way the country is being run, they are helping them get more stupid by the day.
Instead of making sure they can do the math, they are building the registers so they don't even have to practice math at all.
I'll bet that since I have been working in construction that I have had to teach at least 50 grown men to read a danged tape measure and it wouldn't surprise me if it hasn't been more than a hundred. I know it would be if I counted even the 20 Y.O. boys too, and for the most part, they were white men & boys too.

I don't know where we are headed but it sure doesn't look good from where I am standing.

Kids as that don't worry because there's always " an app for that" now.

Sad part of all the "advances" of the last 60 years is engineering majors are taught to use scientific calculators yet side rules are no longer manufactured or the use of them taught even as historical basis education.

The very tools that developed the technology the current and future generations rely upon are now as lost to society as doing long division.

It took 40 years but the machines won. Please make all the coming generations of coppertops to the Matrix feel comfortable just don't give them the red pill. They won't be able handle the reality of being unplugged.
