It definitely raised my blood pressure.

Very invasive.

woodsy 04/13/14 12:18 PM

We filled out the 2010 census, sent it in and 2 weeks later a census taker showed up
and harassed us about not receiving it. Wonder what happened to it.

I think I saw a goat with a pencil working on some paperwork...

Old Vet 04/13/14 01:30 PM

I filled mine out mailed it 4 weeks ago and since that time I have had people calling me to answer it again. Don't know if it is a scamer calling or the real stuff but I never give answers to anybody that just calls. I have had my identity stolen and never again I require verifiable ID.

Good looking survey, I would not have any problem with filling it out, it means so much for your area, schools, roads and many other things. It is important.

That is what they say. It is way more than a census IMO.

Could be the start of something way more sinister. Remember Hitler ?

We may plead the 5th and pay the $100 fine if they wish to pursue it.

Ambereyes 04/13/14 06:52 PM

Got one a few years ago addressed to occupant. It fell in the fireplace, oopsie. Since than we have moved to the other side of the state. Never heard anything from whoever they are.

woodsy 04/13/14 07:08 PM

It is still winter like here at times and we are out of paper for firestarter.
This survey from the feds may come in handy yet...........

Danaus29 04/13/14 08:32 PM

I'm sorry. I have severe attention deficit disorder. Who are you and what did you want?

I wonder what would happen if you recorded your language as Klingon or Ancient?

By filling it out and mailing it in I would be putting somebody out of work... Like that guy they're going to send knocking on my door, or the mail carrier bringing me next 50 copies of the same survey. What about the guys at the paper mill or printing house? Somewhere out there is a lumberjack cutting down trees to make this mass mailings happen and I just want to make sure he can feed his kids tonight... So I will not respond. I'm just doing my part. Lol

Jena 04/15/14 01:51 AM

I got one of those way back in...2001? 2002? I refused to fill it out, they sent someone to the door. I told them I wasn't going to do it. They went away and I never heard another word about it.

simi-steading 04/15/14 05:11 AM

Required by law huh... Well if I get one, guess they are going to have to come arrest me for not filling it out..

I read on the ACLU website that for those who don't want to divulge all this personal information then your approach to this/them is probably
the best solution.
Supposedly they don't pursue non compliance for fear of bad publicity.

sprucie 04/15/14 11:54 AM

This "survey" was mailed to me twice. The only thing I am required by law to let them know is how many people are living here. I have not heard back from them yet, and I will continue to fill it out the same way each time I receive it. If I do get one again, I will be contacting my US representative. IMO it is excessively invasive, and I'll be damned if I will give them any more info than that.

Junkman 04/15/14 12:26 PM

Good Grief

It means more federal expansion into areas they have no Constitutional authority to expand INTO.

There is nothing in the Constitution that gives Congress any right to spend money on, or authority over, "schools, roads and many other things"

simi-steading 04/15/14 01:50 PM

Just say NO

The money is allocated to the States and THEY then move he money around to where it will do the best according to what the census says is needed, for schools roads bridges etc. So if one doesn't care what and where tour country does with the money then don't fill it out but the next bridge you go over and it needs repair don't cry when the country says no money, or the school needs to expand and hits you the tax payer for more funds because there wasn't enough allocated for them, or that next pot hole messes up your cars tire, don't screen to the country as to why they did not patch it.

Danaus29 04/15/14 02:29 PM

Oh puhlease! Schools get money according to attendance. Roads and bridges get money according to usage. Census is used to redraw voting districts.

How does knowing whether my children are adopted or biological effect anything? Why do they need to know about all my bank accounts....pretty sure irs has got tabs on that one. Whether my sink has a faucet or not or our ethniticity is going decide if a bridge is repaired? :hrm:

I wouldn't touch that survey.....dangerous invasion of privacy. Give them an inch and they'll take a mile.

Exactly!

ldc 04/15/14 03:18 PM

They asked almost those same questions when I tried to apply by phone for the ACA (Obamacare). Phone operator got stuck on a pile of ethnicity questions and ones about race...maybe because my last name is not an English one, but I am legally a US citizen by birth. I felt bad for the operator as I could hear her struggling with a script, however I stuck to my point of view, i.e., I'm an American citizen born at Columbia-Presbyterian Hosp. in NYC...The process went on for more than 10 minutes. Very annoying. I loathe even the attempt to breach my privacy, beyond the recorded facts (in this case, of my nationality and place of birth).

woodsy 04/15/14 03:20 PM

21.In the past 12 months did you get get married, widowed or divorced?
22.How many times have you been married ?
23.In what year did you last get married ?
24. Have you given birth in the last 12 months ?

Must be 20 questions about your employment or non employment,
income , total income in the last 12 mos etc..
Your property if any and its value, and the list goes on.

sunny225 04/15/14 04:13 PM

We need a big stamp that we can just stamp it with F O A D. Plus NUNYA for none of your business. :nana:

You opponents of this so called community survey may find this an interesting read.
It certainly validates my privacy concerns.

Wayne02 04/16/14 11:58 AM

I used to just ignore those but they just keep sending more of them and I already receive too much junk mail.

Several years ago I started filling in what is required (number people in household) and then writing 'not applicable' on the top of each page with an arrow down through the contents of the page.

Since I started that I've never received a second survey or any kind of in-person visit.
