I only got to try "shine" once. Maybe I should give it another try cause when I tried it I was quite sure it was turpentine. Thank you for all the good ideas. I planning on just trying a handful of smaller samples till I decide on a new favorite. I've already learned that I'm too much of a girl to drink Jamison straight, but I do enjoy it in a guiness.

Now that Jim Beam (and Makers Mark) has sold out to a Japanese company I'm going to have switch bourbons
Why? Just curious.

It seem ironic, that "American" conglomerates, took Beam, from a family business, milked it for what thever they could get, then sold out - to Whoever has money, with $2 billion in debt, wheras the Japanese have a history of making businesses in America (and throughout the world) better, not worse.

Beam is a excellent global brand. The Japanese are not stupid.

Here's a current listing of all the brand names held by Beam:

You'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between Old Crow Reserve and Jim Beam and OC is almost half the price.
Eta: Well shoot, I didn't know that OC is made by the same company as JB.

Already like rice and I though it was supposed to be the Chinese, that we were now supposed to be afraid of.

The profits go to the stockholders and Japanese Suntory, is a publicly traded company, just like Ford Motor or Coca-cola.

I remember when people whined, about Nissan wanting to build trucks in Tennessee - 30 years ago. they are still some of the most coveted jobs, in the nation.

It makes business sense, to make Kentucky bourbon in KY. Whoever owns the company really should not matter, in a world of global business.

Ky has been global corporate since the days of John Y Brown and Martha Layne Collins as state governors. Louisville is headquarters for YUM foods which has KFC in 1600 locations in China. Toyota is in Georgetown and Ford Truck is in Louisville. Taxpayers here have a long history of writing blank checks to cover set up costs and tax incentive packages for global corporate... oh, and we have Amazon warehouse for east coast in Campbellsville and FedEx hub at Louisville International Airport.
