My employer was paying 100% of my insurance before OCare drove the premiums up. Now, not sure what will happen.
The best plan available for me increases my deductible by 600%, my emergency copay by 600%, my doctor visits (I have a life threatening disease and am on chemo) by $250%, and my RX (I take several) by 167%. I didn't calculate out of pocket, etc. This news was bad enough.
This would cost my employer over $600 per month. Not sure what it would cost me if my employer chooses not to insure any more, but I won't get a subsidy due to income. Looks like the plan would be the same plan, no matter who pays for it.
After 30+ years of hard work, I finally got a job that wasn't just over minimum wage, which just puts me over the income for any subsidy by a few thousand. Finally, I have been able to help care for my 83 year old mom and buy my first home, where we can both live. My mom wouldn't have had a colonoscopy last month without me paying her copay of $225, even after she has had months of bleeding and pain.
I thought I was finally getting ahead!
I'm in my late 50's with a serious, rare disease, I wonder what kind of care I will get on ObamaCare. An infection could take me back out of remission and back on the ugly chemo. At least now, the chemo I have I can live with. But when I get an infection, I can run to my doctor immediately.
Should I be worried about what kind of care I will get? Or has that been hyped up?

This insurance is the same of what was available prior to Obamamcare- the same insurance providers making the same calculations on profit and what restrictions are needed to achieve that profit, except for a few feel-good requirements by law.
So you would, under Obamacare, make the choice for yourself instead of your employer making the choice for you. The main difference is that much of the cost will be carried by the government for lower "income" people. I put the income in quotes because years of reviewing tax returns has shown that a fair number of people manage to reduce their income for tax purposes while seeming to live large anyway.
The restrictions on networks might find you doctor or hospital out of the plan or the details of might come as surprise when care is needed. You need to be very careful and check a lot of things yourself to have success at this.

Oh, I read an article yesterday that seemed to say OCare made the premiums rise on private insurance policies. That it was expected. I may have misunderstood. I bookmarked it at work, I will have to re-read it.

But she wasn't paying it- her employer was paying most of it. Good deal for the employer not to have to pay- bad deal for the tax payer if subsidies are involved. Maybe bad deal for her depending on what she wants.
The employer could deduct health insurance as a business expense. And most could get a little more as an incentive. Now even if he decides to hand her $18,000, which I seriously doubt he would, he could not deduct it as a recognized business expense and she would have to pay taxes herself on the money that was over the limits of a health . Good for the tax payer maybe (yeah right) but bad for the employer and employee both.
Or not who knows- the tax code must be developed.

Here's the article.
I work for a very small non-profit business, a housing cooperative. Actually, the concept of our cooperative is similar to the new health care system.

According to two of my neighbors.....they collect a widows benefit till the are 65 one of them has been collecting for almost 40 years. The other is collecting her widows beneits for 2 years while she is still working....she gets 7 payments a year. Funny thing when my Dad died no one at SS mentioned it.

Gotta know how to play the system to benefit. Those of us trying to provide and stay "inbounds" will always get the shaft. Those with no conscience will always use the govt's guns to seize all they can for themselves until there is nothing left. They would eat all the corn including next years seed for the instant gratification. Then seize yours for their future.

Collecting a benefit as a widow is sometime automatic, if they were getting spouse's benefits already, sometimes not payable if the widow already gets more on her own than she could get as a spouse. Lots of things go on.
If you think some should be getting benefits on your father's record, have them contact the agency.

Yes, it did ,that is why I posted my above info. Dh and used to pay-0-. It has gone up so much because of new regulations on what the government makes our provider, provide; that we now pay 325. per month.

His widow is still working, makes more than he ever did, will NOT get his SS b/c hers would be more when she takes it. (If its still there!) No dependent kids...all grown.
I think y'all know my point, there's a LOT of dead folks who's SS goes 'back in the pot'. All this talk about the young population paying for us is hokey. If they truly are its b/c the gov't spent our rightfully due SS.
