This is where some dogs come in handy. Most people do not get out of their car until I give them the okay because they are scared of our dogs.

I have farm dogs. They let work men go about their business and walk the path from truck to work site. Dogs are happy to watch from a distance. They only come unglued when someone deviates from the path.

I tell all the people this who come to do work here. Most believe me. Those who don't learn quickly. If they try to wander away from their work, a dog will pin them or push them back to work, while barking. That brings me outside.

Awesome idea.

If someone is on your property to do a job, they need to go about it, and not ask miscellaneous questions, wander off, or in any way not do the work they are there to perform. In the past I've not sidestepped the issue by saying the dogs will bite or there are dangerous animals or any other scenarios. I don't have that much patience, I'm afraid.

I guess my husband and I think differently. We have put a lot of blood sweat and tears into our place and are happy to show it off especially to city folk. I enjoy answering questions and giving small tours. Kids are always thrilled to be taken to the chicken house to throw some scratch and look for eggs to take home with them or to get the chance to pet a horse or scratch a pigs ears. We have added things to our place to make it more welcoming we even have an area on our deck where anyone visiting can grab a fishing pole and enjoy, there have been many times their kids have had the chance to cast a rod for the very first time. Family and friends are always welcome and anyone dropping by are always told not be in hurry and to stay for supper.

Yes ,Children neighbors welcomed guests but I believe the op was talking about wandering paid labor walking around looking at things while they should have been working or at least invited to look around !

You're right I veered off the subject. We've been lucky that the times we've hired a job out we haven't had to deal with that.
