Tired kids who are busy don't have time to get bored. The main thing is that they need to get that high school diploma. Without it, there are no job opportunities.

The first lady, speaking to graduates at Bowie State University, a historically black college, criticized the worship of sports stars and celebrities.
"Today, instead of walking miles every day to school, they’re sitting on couches for hours playing video games, watching TV," she said of black youth. "Instead of dreaming of being a teacher or a lawyer or a business leader, they’re fantasizing about being a baller or a rapper."
She went on to point out the high dropout rate for black students.
"Right now, one in three African-American students are dropping out of high school. Only one in five African-Americans between the ages of 25 and 29 has gotten a college degree — one in five," she said.
The first lady also encouraged parents to turn off the TV and take away video games.
"Take a stand against the media that elevates today’s celebrity gossip instead of the serious issues of our time. Take a stand against the culture that glorifies instant gratification instead of hard work and lasting success," she said.

1. He continues to act and portray the "rap star mentality" he invites some of the "milder" artists to the white house, and attends dinners with others, he makes sure people see him rubbing elbows with the elite of the hollywood elite, business elite, sports stars etc. ( we wont even go intot he whole jay-z/cuba incident not being investigated or even a public comment against)
2. His economic policies have caused minority unemployments to sky rocket past "white" unemployment, and not just regular unemployment but long term unemployment as well which is far more telling.
3. Michelle's school lunch initiatives while nobel in and of them selves contribute to the problem by in effect saying " your parents do not feed you right, no worries the government has your lunch ready"
4. He/his handlers have chosen to race bait every opportunity that benefits him, furthering the divide of races in America.
5. He and his administration have actively chosen not to punish/charge members of the black panthers for voter intimidation, nor has he pursued voter fraud cases, further adding to the "image" that once your on "top" you can get your boys backs.
I am awed that America elected an African American president, I did not think I would see it in my lifetime, and I am so happy that future generations see they too can make it to the top, I am just saddened that in this case it appears that instead of work and ethics that the "buddy system" "fraud" and good lip service will get you further. I believe a moderate black man like Colen Powell chose not to run in the past due to fear, now that door is open and that is a GREAT thing.
I just wish that the man we elected actually went to washington with the knowledge and experience neccessary to run the country and to work with the house and senate and make progress for this nation instead of not only following the status quo, but driving a wedge between races, classes, religions, ages of persons etc. in order to cram an agenda into policy while everyone is bickering.

You have to be aware and be prepared. You can't count on anyone else to protect you. Those that think their support of liberal causes will spare them, may be in for a lethal awakening. This country's policies and the continuing deterioration in legal economic opportunity has created a feral group that has no regard for human life.

Have you got any evidence of this? Other than education? And, then, please explain how is that the fault of whites? Blacks are afforded every opportunity to go to college & many of them, when they go, sit there w/headphones on or maybe now its other electronic distractions.
Those who go & make something of themselves are sometimes ridiculed by the 'hood. Is this the fault of whites?
And, even if it were the fault of whites, are we to just be shot down in the streets b/c of it???

I think the welfare nation that has been created by several administrations in the inner city has a far greater impact on keeping minorities in poverty than anything. The policies of this current administration, much like the NDAA and Patriot act have furthered the problem.
I would say the liberals who believe blacks are incapable of working themselves out of poverty and crime riddled neighborhoods so keep them on the government teat, much like the government has done to millions of native Americans over the centuries is at a greater fault than any imagined war by CEO's or joe and tom down the street, which begs me to ask, is it only the christian white males that are soldiers in this economic war on blacks or is it the gay men, the women etc. that happen to be white in it also? is this the same as the war on women?
Please enlighten us, as a white middle aged, non religious conservative, lower middle class male I need to know what wars I am fighting and what I am being held accountable for.
and as to this part "criminal violence keeping minorities in poverty" of your line, where is this group of evil mastermind white masters with guns to the head of black youth forcing them to commit crimes? unemployment is up across all of america, poverty is up in all demographics, yet crime overall is DOWN in America, but is rising surprisingly fast int he black on white and black on black areas.

So very well said.
It seems the liberals in this country are content to sit & wait til some blacks feel they've killed enuf of us to justify slavery.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/n...-race/2079327/
quote from the article
"The community is saying this is wrong. We're treating these educators like they're criminals, like they're drug dealers, like they're gangsters," said Timothy McDonald III, pastor of First Iconium Baptist Church and a member of Atlanta's Concerned Black Clergy. "Yes, fire the ones who cheated, but this is overreaching."
Look at the picture of the "National Superintendent of the Year"
I have no idea if it is mostly attitude or how much incompetence is involved. I remember, since I was working in the trade, reading about the success story of Atlanta. It was blared all over, how they were achieving, how great they were doing on tests.. Then it turns out it was all cheating. And the pastor thinks it is not such a big deal. The question that comes to mind, what kind of standards are these? And why is it supposed to be the fault of white society if blacks fail in school and do not accomplish. Is there no such thing as personal responsibility for blacks? ( If you are a hardworking, decent black, this obviously does not address you). I thought forced busing was supposed to solve that problem. Cheating on tests is done in all kinds of schools all over the country.
I knew one such cheater personally. Every white teacher was fawning over her, she was such a marvelous teacher, her kids did so great, oddly only in her classes. Teachers like that are a scourge. They teach children you can get by with cheating and you do not have to work hard. Then the reality of life after school, you can make a living sleeping around and having kids, Uncle Sam pays. No matter how you twist and turn it, make excuses, etc.,etc., this will not last because it can't.
Like Darren said,
"This country's policies and the continuing deterioration in legal economic opportunity has created a feral group that has no regard for human life".

I think it is a series of life choices that leads to sustained poverty, joblessness, and no hope. And bad life choices will effect a white person just as much as they will a black one.
|
What's interesting is how all of the problems traditionally associated with poor blacks -- single-parent homes, thug culture -- are starting to show up among whites, too, since we decided to gut our manufacturing sector and send jobs overseas for higher profits and cheaper goods.
Hmm ... maybe it isn't skin color ... maybe it's simply economics after all?

Or maybe, just maybe, it's the policies put in place by liberals who want everyone to depend on the government for everything. Look at public schools. Since the liberals have taken complete control of them, they have gone down hill. On demand abortion, enititlement programs at an all time high, more control over our lives in every way. The list is endless.

so true. I knew folks who went hungry as a child, walked barefoot to school, never slept in a bed by themselves, But..... were on top of the class, polite, considerate, hard working.
Being poor is absolutely no excuse. Orderliness and cleanliness does not cost a thing, neither does being polite, having an interested mind and going to the library is free, paying attention in school does not cost a dime, being respectful to the teacher does not either. Even a not so good teacher has plenty to teach that a kid does not know.
Idle hands do the devil's work.

Very good point. But those kids you knew back then weren't just born knowing how to behave well. It was taught to them, they had expectations placed on them. That doesn't happen as often today, even in the "not poor" segments of society.

It never was skin color, it was level of control via government application of not just basic needs of life, but an actual livelihood.
Many Native Americans are/where in poverty thanks to government control of monies, lands, homes etc. Long before it was ever applied to the black community or hispanic communities. It is so badly ingrained on reservations that many are beaten for working/living above a standard because the leaders are scared the subsidies will stop coming if they improve the environment.
Now when a young black male from an impoverished area steps above the poverty and pays attention to their studies and works etc, unless he is a rap/sports star he is ridiculed and threatened, god forbid they become conservatives or loose the street dialect they get lambasted with the uncle term. Working for years in inner city schools in Atlanta I saw it constantly, hard work and dedication except to the "set way of life" was frowned upon by all around.
The bleed over into the "caucasian" mainstream is happening because liberal economic policies have cost more and more jobs, have kept millions unemployed longer than necessary due to fear. If I am an unemployed American, I go on unemployment, I job hunt with full intent of finding a job, nothing exist so I stay on unemployment, now my term for unemployment is up but dems want to extend it/ I need that I support the dems, now I have a year or more added on unemployment, I still job hunt, but its in earnest as I have adjusted my lifestyle downward enough to "get by" on unemployment and working cash jobs here and there. Now by time I am out of UI, I need help paying for my home Oh wait dems gave us home owners protection etc. So now I can get on welfare and snap and stay in my home for another year etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. The fear comes from not only democrats rhetoric, but from the fear that if I actually take any job I can find even if it pays less than I think I am worth, I may loose my benefits, I may not qualify for the free/cheap phone the mortgage subsidy, the tax breaks, the WIC or the food stamps or even if I get a job paying what I think I am worth, if the economy is not stable and I am not at that job long enough to reestablish benefits, I loose it all. So it becomes more "comfortable" and stable to "stay poor". Meanwhile I divorce my wife legally, have her stay in my house, and keep her job-now she qualifies for seperate benefits as a single mother or what not etc etc etc. I can succesfully game the system and live a mostly worry free lifestyle all be it at a lower standard of living.
Government backed liberal fiscal policy is not about bringing everyone UP to the same level it is about making everyone the same level, and draining the coffers is easier than filling them.

I'll give it a try. When you read a lot of the comments by a lot of the people on this forum, it's all about how black people are on welfare or are criminals.
Well it's true that there are a lot higher percentage of black people in prison or on public assistance.
But they are not even the majority of black people but if you listened the the people here on the forum you'd think 90% of all African americans were on welfare or gangbangers.
So this racial stereotype perpetuated by the right mostly sinks into the consciousness of the nation and then people refuse to hire African americans, especially men because so many people are perpetuating a stereotype of them.
You know how a lot of gun owners on the right feel the media and some people portray gun owners and paranoid and criminals?
Know how gun owners hate all gun owners being associated with gun crime because they are just normal people??
Same thing.

Very true. It is possible for poor and abused people to rise above their circumstances.
However studies show that people who grew up in extremely poor or who went to underfunded schools mostly do not do as well or rise above their circumstances.
It's really sort of myth that is perpetuated that poverty and cultural deprivation are not impediments. It's not borne out by scientific evidence.

I'm not going to get involved in this whole argument about if it's the blacks fault they can't get a job or stay out of prison, or if the white man is keeping them down or whatever the heck the argument currently is.
As for the OP, any of you on FB check out Right Wing Kentucky Hillbilly. He is currently asking people to follow his page and give him a link to your local news service. His goal is to track the rise in black on white crime since the Zimmerman/Martin thing ended. I know personally in the armpit city that I work in the majority of murders in the past month have been black on white.

No one is saying all black people are criminals or in prison. However, YOUNG black males are a huge problem in this country when it comes to crime. They have gotten far worse than their parent's generation and the same is true in the Hispanic community, but to a somewhat lesser degree. Whites are affected to an even lesser degree. Stereotypes has nothing to do with it. Facts are facts. Pick any young black male on an inner city street after dark and the odds are high he has a history with law enforcement and the facts are they commit several crimes before they are caught and go to prison.
