Yup. Our oldest is Rebecca. I wanted to spell it Rebeckah. DH nixed that idea because she would never be able to get any of the cute baby items that have kids' names on them.

One time the mother spouted off a name so unbelievable that I had no clue as to where to begin to spell it. I asked the mother, "Can you spell that for me?" She said, "No, I can't." Hand to God, honest truth.
My favorite was La-A. Pronounced Ladashay because "the dash ain't silent".

It is a ludicrous name to give a child but I agree that the judge was wrong

Parents should take care in choosing names for their children. Judges should keep their personal opinions out of legal interpretations. If a kid is saddled with a name they don't like they will go by a nick name and eventually change their name themselves

I went to school with a girl who was named Macy because it was her mother's favorite store and when she turned 18 she changed her first name to Diane which was her middle name she went by in school and took one of her mother's names as a middle name.

A bartender at a tavern I visited had hippie parents who named her Mari for her first name and Juania for a middle name . When she legally changed her name to Marilyn Anne her parents cut ties with her because she did not embrace their world view.

My sister works at a daycare center... She met with two adorable twins named Orangejello and Lemonjello. Yes, that's how they were spelled. But they were pronounced Or-ahn'-juh-lo and Leh-mahn'-juh-lo. Oy. And then when the cute little black boy came in with the name Simeon, my sis about lost it.
Of course, my daughter was on a cheer team with a girl named Nausea. Not sure how they spelled it but all I could think of was maybe a twist on the old "How indians name their children" joke... :P People are weird.

Judge over stepped. The parents are idiots too. Why, if they couldn't even agree on what the kid's last name was going to be, did they even have a kid TOGETHER?

I personally like these names, play along with me a moment..."Little Syphillis, come here darlin'" or try-on, "Little Gynalotrimin, you better leave that be," or even, "Lamisil, you quit throwing that san outta that san box!"

Judge is over reaching IMO, there would be several in my family with a name change. Jesus is a pretty common name around here, pronounced a bit differently though
