Is the weight on the package? I threw out my plastic wrap when I stocked it on the shelves so I cant look until I get to the store.

I buy the Aldi brand of tp...willow soft or something like that. 6.99 for 18 rolls. 3.5oz per roll.

I might need to find a substitute. I don't have asthma. or any breathing issue, but Sycamore sent me into an asthma attack 6 years ago, so I don't want to risk a reaction of that sort.

Most people will never notice. It is simply inflation and one way to hide it. However, this kind of inflation does not show up on the government's inflation index. But it is still there.

It's hard to miss the narrower rolls, when the standard size holder sort of does the measuring for you.

I was in Sam's Club a few weeks ago, and noticed what had to be a prepper loading up an entire flatbed cart with TP. As I walked by I quietly mentioned "you do know they've got Imodium A-D up front, and it's a lot cheaper". He just kept loading, humor is lost on some people.

There is a local 'bulk' warehouse near here and my friend went and bought some 200 rolls of the paper they had on sale.

Now he got it for 25 cents a roll, huge rolls....but it was John Wayne toilet paper and I believe he still has about 198 rolls of it somewhere....

Thank you poppy, this is more of what I was getting at. The CPI records inflation at a very low level and people say, "look, inflation was only x amount!!" But the reality is, you are getting WAY less wipe for your dollar, due to product shrinkage.

The point is not that some other brand is a better deal. All the different "brands" are owned by the same few companies, so you can be sure that most are doing this in some way. Some might make the sheets smaller, and others thinner. The end result is the same.

I also find it interesting that the companies go through the trouble to resize packages... and not just bump the price up to the true cost. They can only shrink product size for so long, until it becomes ridiculous.

Red Green once said, "When you catch yourself talking about the price of hammer handles, shut up." I think grousing about the differences in width, length, weight, absorbancy, how long it lasts, etc. you need to go get some fresh air.

I have gotten some cheap john Wayne toilet paper. wouldn't take crap off anybody.

I was pretty well stocked on TP. My sister has a cleaning job & she has been giving me the huge rolls, like what Walmart has in the bathroom. Most are at least half full yet. They have to change them certain times even if they aren't empty. So, I have 7 big rolls in the closet. It takes awhile before it will fit on the holder, but they usually last at least a month with what is left on them. Not the softest, but it's free.
By the way, my septic guy told me that Charmin is the worst TP for septic tanks.

I watched them cut the size of raisins from 24 oz to 20 oz without dropping the price last summer. They're doing it to lots of products. Chips are down to 13 oz.

This has been going on for decades.

Tuna fish, too.

I don't buy tuna fish all that often and I didn't realize the cans were smaller until one day when I went to make tuna fish sandwiches and I really had to stretch it to get two sandwiches out of a can, when before a single can would make two generous sandwiches - and then some.

To add salt to the wound, almost literally, bandaids have been down sized too. I just discovered it a couple of days ago when I cut two fingers. I have to use two bandaids now to cover what one would have done.

That is a total of 63.6 oz - roughly 27 cents per oz. 3960 sheets +-

Compare that to:
Majesta - purchased at Sav-A-Lot. $4.99 16 rolls, 242 sheets per roll, 4" x4" sheets. 3.1 oz per roll.
That is a total of 49.6 oz - roughly 10 cents per oz. 3872 sheets +-

Note that the weight (and therefore strength and absorbancy) per sheet is somewhat similar (about 20% less), but we pay about 1/3 what you do. Charmin is a brand that has historically been bad for septic systems, so it is off our radar anyway.

I say that embossing adds value.
We all have seen the slick roll in the school or office that weighs a ton and is the size of a trashcan lid.
BUT like John Wayne it dont take nothin off nobody.

8 pounds of the stuff and your but is raw and your still getting a streak!

Yuh know..... that ain't funny.

Corn cobs used to be a multi-purposed and valuable resource commodity in the farming communities, and now you can hardly find one intact, lest you grow your own.....

Also, there was another reason oysters used to be popular in colonial times.
