Looking at the news this morning I think we may have hit on a unifying issue between the parties....Reid, Pelosi and Boehner all seem to be agreeing on the uniform issue....WTHeck?

Funny how I heard Sen. Reid and N. Pelosi carping about this very thing this morning and I thought to myself: How can they be declaring this to be an outrage when the US Olympics is paid for by donors not the government and has nothing to do with Congress? As the Olympic team expenses (including uniforms) is paid for by donations from corporations and individuals, I suppose they were trying to get the most for their dollars. Now if some US clothing mfg. wanted to donate to the Olympic event by agreeing to make the uniforms at cost and the committee still allowed the uniforms to be made in China..that would be a harder pill to swallow.

as it stands, it is likely that the uniorms are like most clothing - either Vietnam or China, Malaysia or the Phillipines..somewhere in the SE Asia in a factory, is where 99% of American's clothing and shoes come from.

I've spent all my time worrying about whether my garden, crops and 2nd cut of hay were going to produce or not this year because of the lack of rain... if not I'm worried how me and the animals are going to eat this winter. We're getting some decent rain now but I'll still be worrying if it'll be enough to save things. Can't say yet whether I'm worried if this rain was mad in China or not... I'm just happy it's here now.

If they want to do Good look at where clothing for our Military is made???

I would Vote Democrat if they all agreed to do away with Free Trade and put Tariffs back on like it was before Clinton.Which from what I understand Obama said at one time he wanted to do.

ABC was doing a piece on the uniforms being made in China the other night and they talked to someone who produces clothes in United States (sorry, I don't remember her name) and she said that they could have been easily produced here for the same cost. Personally, I don't blame the Olympic Commitee - they hired Ralph Lauren who is an American designer. His company is the one that choose to have them produced oversee's. I do think it is in bad taste especially when our country could use the jobs and I think all the press this is getting will make Ralph Lauren look bad (probably not hurt his bottom line though!)

It's called "making political hay".

They are not dumb enough to say they are for it.

Obviously not since the US clothing industry colllapsed. In the 60s and 70s it was booming with 90% of all clothing sold in the US being US made. Lots of well paid jobs. Now only 5% is US made. All those jobs were outsourced.

That has to be no accident that their uniforms consist of a beret. Just sayin.

I literally laughed out loud when I saw a pic of the uniform and saw they were made in China.

The only place the designer had taste was in his/her mouth.

Yes it unforunate that the uniforms are made in china. What really gets me is that that the cost 1200 and 1900 for womens and mens respectivly. For $1900 we could not find something made in america?

In all seriousness, after my first tongue in cheek post,

WE need to re-look at what Harry Reid said about putting all the uniforms in a pile & burning them.

Isn't that just about what he'd done with approximately 1000 bills he won't submit to the Senate??

what a shyster!
