A Florida entrepreneur said he had sold out of gun range targets depicting a faceless, hood-clad figure holding an iced tea and a bag of Skittles meant to look like Trayvon Martin

Throwing fuel on the fire is what he is doing, no more, no less,

As a burly white guy, I've been offended by this target for decades.

Why because he still has a hairline ~ :ashamed: ~

JJ Grandits 05/12/12 06:39 AM

Its because his shooting stance is totally wrong. Both hands should be supporting the firearm and both eyes should be open.

haypoint 05/12/12 07:17 AM

Too hard to make a target with a hooded faceless guy sitting on you.

Interesting that the "standard target" is a clean shaven white guy, when the demographics of violent felons would display someone quite different.

This case has drawn lots of attention. People like shock value. Somebody saw the marketing value.

pancho 05/12/12 08:26 AM

Nothing wrong with a target that might resemble an actual criminal.

MO_cows 05/12/12 08:46 AM

The ugly side of capitalism. Cashing in on the worst in people.

Cornhusker 05/12/12 08:47 AM

Just like Obama, Jackson and Sharpton, whoever made this target is exploiting a tragedy for personal gain.
The difference is, they seem to have shut this guy down while the left is still exploiting to take away our rights.

The ugly side of Nanny State beliefs was the lawyer who got on the news and said "If there isn't a law against this, there should be one."
Yeah, just what we need, more stupid laws.:smack

Get real.

The middle aged, white guy has always been an easy target. ;)

I don't think there ought to be a law against it. I just wish more people had enough class and character not to buy it.

plowjockey 05/14/12 06:01 PM

And, we can't understand why the races, can't get along. :(

Great marketing idea. Offensive to most, but in a free market capitilistic society, that's how we operate.
The magazine front cover with " OBAMA, our first Gay president" has upset many, but that doesn't matter. That the cover sells magizines is the important thing.

Sonshine 05/15/12 10:43 AM

I think it's a shame that they are capitalizing on the tragedy that has torn this country apart.

FourDeuce 05/15/12 12:18 PM

I don't think it's "the tragedy"(the shooting in Florida) that is tearing the country apart. I think it is the rabble-rousing by Sharpton, Jackson and company that is trying to tear the country apart.:hobbyhors

You are right. The fact that there are so many Black racists is something most of us would rather not have rubbed in our faces.

sirquack 05/15/12 03:45 PM

I saw several variations of Zombie Targets at Walmart last week. I am sure the ACLU is about to file a lawsuit to get them taken off the market too. LOL

I'm curious if the Martin's could be considering capitalizing on their son's death. I also wonder if the target could be considered free speech much like the rulings on pornography by the Supreme Court long ago.

What's really a shame is that the entire nation wide hullabaloo was manufactured.
