I guess not many heavy walkers Hunt. Ballet classes teach a child to walk softly, and that helps when said child learns to walk in the woods, no to mention being aware of your feet when going barefoot.

I love heels, not the 5 inch high ones as I can't balance in those anymore..lol..too many back problems for that, but a nice 3 inch heel is wonderful statement for a nice dress or skirt.

I dread the day when all I can wear is flats because I am so old. And yes, heels can be bad for the body parts, but so can sitting on one's duff in front of a computer all day, we have to pick our battles and causes wisely as someone can always find fault with something someone else is doing.

Don't I know it! Got the wife some, and arranged for a late night rendezvous in the woods, away from the kids... never found her

Why do women wear those things? I never clack, so I know that it isn't just that all high heels make this noise -- there are definitely high heels out there that don't announce to everyone in a 5 mile radius that you are walking by.

Is this a ridiculous pet peeve of mine, or are there others out there that just cringe when a Clacker walks by?
Yep, I know what you mean!!!

One time I went into the restroom at the state fair my family and I was attending. I stepped inside a stall and took a seat and while setting there I could here my wife and MIL talking real plain. I thought to myself "Gee these walls are so thin you can hear the women in the other restroom. Then suddenly the toilet flushed in the stall next door to me and I hear this "Clack, clack, clack, clack.....etc, all the way out the door. I said to myself "Gee, that sounded like a lady in high heels!"

Well I guess I don't have to tell you the rest of the story!

But, but...a nice looking Lady "dressed nicely", in a dress , or blouse, skirt & hose, wearing heels, is worth the CLACK< CLACK< CLACK, as far as I am concerned.
I'm 71 years old and still have an apreciation of "Beauty".
You just don't see it often enough these days. Ladies' dress has just become so "casual", nowadays, I guess.
I'm not a creep or a perv........ I just miss seeing well-dressed Ladies.

Women wearing heels and making noise when they walk does not seem unusual to me. Being fixated and annoyed to the point of a rant does. The good news is. If I am right you are the only one with the power to fix the real problem.

I don't wear them anymore.Use too because I'm so short,I maybe 5' on tip toe, but I can't walk around that way either so I've accepted that I'm short and go for the flats. My feet will thank me in my old age maybe.

I can still hear my dad, "Pick your feet up when you walk!"
Or the scrape/thunk, scrape/thunk of someone walking with untied shoes! ARG!!!
I guess I get it honestly.
Me too!! I can't stand shuffling. My only exception to this is the elderly and those who are physically incapable of picking their feet up correctly.
