The sound is even more abrasive when men are wearing the high heels

That clack clack clack sound is what I hear when the Amish buggys come by my house in the summer ......
There is carpet where Iwork and I don't hear high heels.

I don't mind any noise that walkers make. At least you know they are there. I dislike people who make NO sound when they are walking because they are the ones who sneak up on you (even if they don't mean to) and I have snorted coffee and thrown a bowl of peas across the room thanks to these stalkers.

IMHO high heels should not make noise. If they make noise, they should be exchanged for flats. Or have their feet broken by aggrevated listeners.

The wife hates it when I go into Ninja mode. Specially when she is in the shower.

I saw a lady at a walmart in virginia once whose heels were so high she was barely in contol of each step she took. I couldn't help but laugh, I guess she thought she was purdy.

I've been known to do that in high heels. I have a very nice pair of Michael Kors clogs with a 5 inch heel. They are solid wood on the bottom so I have never figured out how to control the sound when I wear them. The soles just don't bend at all. Generally, I do make very little sound and have been khown to scare the heck out of people that don't realize that I am there. Maybe I should wear more jingling bracelets or something.

Yeppers... all the men I ever knew were like that. Never could figure out why women spend so much time and money on their hair and face and shoes.... men never see that them parts anyway!

Jingly bracelets would be good. My boss many years ago was stealthy in heels so we gave her a cat collar with a bell on it for her birthday. She wore it as a bracelet. She was a pretty great boss.

The clacking I can deal with. The shuffeling and scrapeing of feet drives me insane.
I can still hear my dad, "Pick your feet up when you walk!"
Or the scrape/thunk, scrape/thunk of someone walking with untied shoes! ARG!!!
I guess I get it honestly.

You are listing why women wear high heels....I was asking why women wear high heels that clack loudly.

I don't like clackers either. I have a couple of pair of dress shoes that clack, and I'm always terribly embarrassed if I have to wear them. I try to walk so they don't clack, but I end up walking like John Wayne and it looks strange, like I have to go to the bathroom or something.
Maybe you could invent and patent anti-clacking pads for noisy shoes? Some kind of space-age adhesive and slip-resistant ergonomic pads to go on the soles and heels... then they would sell them in Wal Mart, Walgreens and Dollar General on the 'As Seen On TV' shelf. You'd be rich!!
|
Take your heels to a shoemaker. They can put thin silencers on the noisy heels. They work well.

My father used to say the same thing to us when we were little 'Pick up your feet!' Thank goodness our kids don't drag their feet when they walk. Or lean on things all the time, especially in public.

I don't think I have ever taken a pair of shoes for a 'test walk' to see if they make a noise that annoys others? I don't know of anyone who would pick up a pair of shoes that are perfect for their outfit or whatever, then set them back down because they are afraid that their shoes are annoying to someone else???
Clackin' shoes means I need to look down and see what the heels look like.
Flip Flop, means it's summer!!
Shuffle, shuffle, skuff skuff, means someone's dragging their feet.
Smack Smack Smack is the sound of feet on wet concrete at the pool.
At the end of the day.........this is so not an issue with me, it's not even a blip on the radar!
